The dad actually was the skinny guy from Charlie's Angels so you're right Nia. That actor is Crispin Glover. He's not in a lot of movies nowadays because he's kind of weird. At the music try outs at the start, the guy who tells Marty that he's playing too loud is Huey Lewis. He's from the band "Huey Lewis and The News" The song that plays a couple times during the movie is "The power of Love" which is a Huey Lewis song. And yeah, when Doc does the panicky scream when the power cord gets disconnected towards the end is hilarious, I don't even know why it's funny but it works so well.

Beyond just being hilarious, this movie has one of the most perfectly-written scripts of all time. It's used as a teaching method in writing classes because it's absolutely filled with foreshadowing, call-backs, side-jokes, etc. You will notice something new on rewatch every time. There's a pretty compelling theory in the fandom that the time machine is alive and acting deliberately. If you notice, it always "breaks down" at the perfect time for it to actually help out. Doc's timer at the end was too soon, since if Marty had gone right then he would have gotten back to the clocktower before the lightning hit. By refusing to start, it waited until the lightning strike. Then, breaking down once he got back to 1985, it kept Marty from getting involved in the shootout until after it was over since Doc didn't need his help at all. Even its very first break down, when he went back to 1955 and it broke down before he got to town and had to walk, actually helped out: It kept him from being noticed and pushed him to hide the time machine until he could meet up with Doc later.
