I could be wrong but I heard Lena's final eye shimmer was studio interference, cuz Garland wanted to leave it as ambiguous as possible.

I loved this movie when I first saw it, My final thought after watching this is that it is some kind of alien life pod that had two survivors and that their life pod has a safety mechanism to find a suitable life form to survive the environment, and that final scene was the two alien survivors. haha, my thoughts but I feel like it wraps it up nicely and explains everything.
