I just always thought it was a very well made and underappreciated movie. It is ugly and depressing (cinebinge dude said they just kept stripping away all the good things..), especially how real it feels and looks, but it is powerful and beautiful in its own way imo. there is so much symbolism and details, like the oranges always preceding disaster, how the animals all liked Theo because he was the protagonist, how he was never able to finish a cigarette, and the Romanian refugees being a nobel prize winner, among other things i probably learned and forgot.. plus the long shots and hand-held cams.. very artistic. anyway, thanks for giving it a chance! hope it wasn't too much of a bummer lol!

I didn't watch your reaction until now because I wasn't sure I could handle watching this movie the whole way through again. It's...heavy. So bleak and dismal and depressing, but despite all that still optimistic and even with a happy ending (Sort of). I often see people applaud the numerous long, single-take shots that run for minutes on end, but for me the most Striking element is the soundtrack when things get tense. That...NOISE in the Bexhill camp when Theo runs and the war is raging around him....it scratches at your skull. This film is an Experience.
