The movie you're thinking of is Lucy. Also, that thing about people only using 10% of their brains is a total myth. You use all of your brain all of the time. So The Reavers arent anything supernatural. If you remember the first episode when Zoe was talking about the reavers, she said, "If they catch us, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skin into their clothing and if we are very very lucky, they will do it in that order." So thats what the reavers did. And they made the guy watch. The whole point is they made him experience so much trauma that the only way his psyche could survive is by turning into one of them. And it wasn't that he had super strength or anything, he just caught them all off guard. Nobody expected a reaver to be on board an alliance ship, and nobody expects anyone on that ship to brutally murder them. He didn't cut himself enough to bleed out or anything, it was just extra intense body modification. Him convulsing on the table was an act.
