There is much debate surrounding the classification of Void Binders. Arguments in favour of classifying them as objects or as living organisms both have merit. None deny the fact that Void Binders are eldritch in nature and possess unique qualities.

The most readily apparent arcane property of these entities is their ability to generate, connect to, or otherwise reveal another spatial dimension. To a casual observer, Void Binders usually appear like ordinary chest binders. In most circumstances, it is not until a person wears a Void Binder that they realise anything amiss.

As soon as a wearer adorns a Void Binder, they feel as though they are wearing nothing - they feel no material pressed against their skin. Further, wearers with breasts find that their chest appears flat from the outside. Tests have determined that the Void Binder stores a wearer’s breasts in the aforementioned void, where they are held in a zero-G environment; wearers who experience back pain due to heavy breasts experience relief while wearing a Void Binder. It is currently unknown how Void Binders negate the weight of mass while inside their voids.

Void Binders are only on record appearing among the possessions of individuals who desire a chest binder. Among said individuals are cosplayers and people who struggle with health issues related to breasts, but by far the most common demographic who find themselves with a Void Binder are trans and non-binary people who desire a flat chest (be it only some or all of the time). Nobody has reported directly witnessing a Void Binder appear, merely finding one where there previously was no such object. Common locations where Void Binders are first discovered include wardrobes and chest-of-drawers, among laundry in washing machines or dryers, and clothing shops. One recorded instance notes a Void Binder having been found among regular chest binders which were available for free at a queer support group.

Once a Void Binder has been worn for the first time, it will change to best reflect the wearer. It will alter its size to perfectly fit the wearer’s body and restyle itself into what the wearer would most prefer. For example, a person who desires a green half binder with trans flags on the straps will find that their Void Binder becomes precisely as such before the wearer’s eyes. As such, it is hypothesised that Void Binders possess at least a minor form of telepathic ability.

Void Binders seemingly attempt to keep their wearers comfortable. Wearers note that their Void Binders produce heat while in low temperatures and absorb heat - producing a cooling effect - while in high temperatures.

After months of regular use, the wearer will begin to feel a subtle emotional attachment to their Void Binder. Such wearers have occasionally claimed to have viewed the void within their Void Binder - some report seeing a starry night sky, while others view the inside of a vast nebula. Even if a wearer no longer needs or wants to bind, they refuse to repurpose or toss away their Void Binder; they instead elect to pass it on to another person who wants to bind or simply keep it among their possessions.

There are a handful of reported occurrences that suggest the emotional bond is a two-way phenomenon. Wearers who have kept their void binder for over a year sometimes find that the binder becomes more difficult to remove from their body. Reports describe a vaguely sticky sensation on their skin as if the Void Binder is trying to remain on its wearer’s body. Finally, there is one exceptional instance that strongly suggests Void Binders are not only alive, but also get attached to their wearers: The instance involved a trans man who regularly wore his Void Binder for over three years. After the man received top surgery to remove his breasts, he no longer wore his Void Binder. As such, he retired it to a permanent place in his chest of drawers. He reported hearing quiet sobbing coming from his chest of drawers after about a month of disuse.

These entities are often thought to be in some way related to Void Panties, considering both appear to be telepathic articles of clothing that change to reflect the wearer’s desires and are larger on the inside.
