They flew through the pre-race plot in 12 minutes, only adapting 2.5 chapters of race this episode! Looks like we should have 5-6 more episodes of race (hopefully six). We should get through qualifying for Race 3 by the end of this season. We likely won't start Race 3 for [spoilers] reasons though.

Lol Eurobeat kinda lacking this episode, but we got: Rock Beatin' Wild by Fastway As for Ogata, I think what they're aiming for with him is to be the general mechanic/maintainer of the car, but for specific tuning, he takes it to a specialist. Sort of how a regular mechanic isn't going to tune your car to make more power, you have to take it to someone who specializes in tuning ECUs. So he puts in work/maintenance, just isn't specialized in suspension tuning so he took it to an "expert" (even though that expert got blitzed by Takumi lol).

The 20 car line-up was for the next year season (in universe) of MFG, its still going to be 15 drivers who can qualify for the races this season. I also think that it makes sence that Okuyama would be the mechanic and not Ikeda. When Project D met Team Spiral in fifth stage, it was kinda established that Okuyama was tuning focused and Ikeda was driver mentality focused. Ikeda even says that the loss to Takumi would be good to Okuyama, that his fine tuned car lost to a to him, inferior car because he didn’t have the right mentality. So when Team Sprial evolves into the Spiral Zero tuning garage and the Zero Racing Academy, it makes perfect sence that Okuyama, the tuner would take care of the garage to take care of the cars, while Ikeda takes charge of the Academy to mentaly prepare new drivers.
