Changes to Patreon for next year. (Important) (Patreon)

Hey folks! So I'm changing Patreon up a bit for the future. I'm changing it for a few different reasons.

1: Most people weren't able to use a few of their benefits. I'd have discounts for commissions, but nobody could ever 'use' those discounts because I was never open!

2: A new YCH model. The new model grants a different kind of flexibility I couldn't do before, including new benefits.

These benefits go into effect beginning next year. A short version is this:

The $3, $8, $12, and current $25 tier will be unpublished as of January, but so long as you remain a Pareon on that tier, you will continue to receive the benefits. (including a monthly commission on the $12 and $25) Most benefits are changing, but anyone at the $12 and $25 will still get their commissions every month, so long as they remain a Patreon.

It's easier to explain the benefits tier by tier, so check below for your tier and what changes you might see!

I am currently going to try a monthly YCH model with 30 themes (Chosen 'mostly' randomly) with Patreons being able to vote on themes for that month. Higher tiers can pick a theme, or even get priority access to these slots!

The monthly YCH model is as follows: I have X amount of slots available at the start of the month and 30 themes. (Each 'slot' is 1k words and $15, prices subject to change because if I do change them I'll totally forget to edit this post.) Slots and themes are generally limited, but supporters will have more flexibility for either more slots, more themes, or both.

(Totally working on a price sheet for this in the future.)

I will also be discontinuing the story of the month, and instead work on one longer story throughout the year.

The edits will look like this:

Now:

(Typically done 1 week before the new month. 10 themes are picked randomly for people to vote on, and the top 5 are chosen. Ties will be resolved via random determination.)

$3 Tier.

10% commission discount.

Vote on polls about the monthly story.

Now:

I am creating a new $5 benefit. If you are on the $3 tier, you will gain the benefits of the $5 tier without needing to pay more. The $3 benefits will change to be exactly the same as the new $5, the difference is nobody will be able to sign up for the $3 tier next year.

I am creating a new $10 benefit. If you are on the $8 tier, you will gain the benefits of the $10 tier without needing to pay more. The $8 benefits will change to be exactly the same as the new $10, the difference is nobody will be able to sign up for the $8 tier next year.
