I really am looking forward to the reactions of re zero 2, and it's just getting started. And good job looking into not only the dialogue but also how the characters react. Your speculations are quite interesting.

Daco

Lets go, new rezero reaction!

Don´t worry your are not confused you just don´t know all the pieces of the puzzle. The confusion is something else and it will come later : D

Steve.

It's possible that just like in the real world, facts get distorted over time, so maybe in the long centuries since the witches died things have been forgotten or distorted? I would just say don't worry about being confused or in the dark, this is perfectly natural for the point the story is at. A few clarifications for the episode. The trial at the Witch's Graveyard only accepts demihumans, and Roswaal attempted to clear it even though he is fully human. That's why he ended up severely injured, it wasn't Garfiel that hurt him. It was the trial itself that injured him Now, all of the villagers from Arlam are human, so they can leave through the barrier whenever they want, but they are currently being held captive by Garfiel and some other demihumans. This is because Garfiel wants to use them as hostages to force someone who is qualified to complete the trial and lower the barrier, so they can all leave. (None of this is spoilers, they said all this in the episode one way or another). However, at the very end the trial accepted Subaru even though he is human, which is why Ram was surprised

* The licking of her hand and then touching Subaru was probably the gift for him to be able to face the trial of the sanctuary or even more likely the vow to make him forget that they talked because she touched his head.

So excited to see your reactions to season 2. Love how invested you are in trying to understand everything and to not miss anything. Just to let you know the pronunciation of Echidna in English is close to the Japanese one, with the ch being a k. Just like the monster from the Greek mythology and the animal.

Martin Budjac

The dialogue is really dense and it is easy to miss important information so don't feel bad about pausing or rewinding. I'd say it is even necessary to fully comprehend everything.

Thanks for explaining! I totally ignored the fact that many of the witches names are connected to different mythologies, that's another interesting detail. :D
