Vinland Saga is one of those shows... It's capable of changing how you view certain things in life, I wish more people would watch this show and understand the message author is trying to convey. Amazing episode, probably my new favourite of the series.

Lets Go! And I agree man, this generation doesnt have the capacity to sit down and watch an anime unless it has monsters/demons or asspull powers.

I am a little behind on your VS reactions and i can’t wait to get to this one. It’s no exaggeration when i say I expect 2x9 to be among the top 3 best episodes even after VS ends, it’s just that great of an episode in my opinion that it’s hard to imagine that many episodes toping it for me although I’d very much love to be proven wrong

After this episode Vinland saga became in my top 3 I rarely get emotional while watching something, but man ….. this ep hits different It just fills you with hope and really gives you a great outlook at life, my utmost respect goes to the author, you don’t need violence and fighting to make a story interesting It’s insane to think many people say saeson 2 was unnecessary and boring

I've watched this reaction twice already... Such a powerful episode, I'm glad you enjoyed it Marko

I saw a comment on another video reacting to this episode and someone compared Thorfinn's desire to abstain from violence to a former alcoholics desire to not drink. Someone who hasn't gone through it could easily say, "Oh, it's just one drink. Its fine. You've earned it anyways.", but to an alcoholic it's not just one drink. It's so much more. It goes the same with Thorfinn. EVEN IF Thorfinn punching that guy in the face was warranted.. in his eyes it was so much more than just a punch. Which they beatifully showed in this episode. And yeah, Thorfinn's character development is like you said, "peak character development." When he's hanging from that ledge, with all the people he killed clinging to his body, and his head hung low.. my god that scene is.. (speechless) Every time I watch this episode and he starts weeping and apologizing to all those he killed.. I can't help but cry. You can really feel his pain. I could go on forever about this episode but the last thing I want to mention is about Einar. One of the most beautiful things I find about his character is that when Thorfinn opens up to him he is fully present to listen. He never shrugs it off like, "Oh, here he goes again." or "It's fine. That was the past. You're different now." He may not fully grasp what Thorfinn's going through but he is always 100% present when Thorfinn opens up and that is a sign of not only a really good friend but, a really good person in general. Oh wait, no, there's one more thing I want to mention. I'm in the same boat with you when I hear some people's comments about not liking season 2 for whatever reason. It blows my fucking mind. Especially after watching this episode. Some people were really disappointed when Thorfinn made the oath to never hurt anyone again and I'm just like.. "What is wrong with you?" I try not to go on passionate rants but.. seriously? You've watched up until this episode and you STILL want Thorfinn to fight knowing how much his past haunts and hurts him? There's a thing with guilt that causes people to feel like they don't have the right to speak or feel upset when it comes to certain things because of their past and I think we all know that's not true. If there's wrong being done it doesn't matter if you've done that same wrong, you have the right to call it out. Of course it's hard to do that when you're living in that guilt. Thorfinn has shown multiple times how he doesn't feel he has the right to speak on things or be upset. What I'm trying to get at is that it's clear that Thorfinn is going through an EXTREME amount of guilt and pain because of his past and it's crazy to me that when Thorfinn makes that oath, that some people aren't cheering for him. They're disappointed. It's upsetting, tbh.

I agree, it's my favourite episode so far. I can already tell that this is the most important episode for Thorfinn's character and the way they directed it was insanely good, peak stuff man.

markosanimejourney

I agree bro, it really wakes up so many positive emotions and clearly shows people what's truly important and that seeking violence will only ruin your life no matter what.

markosanimejourney

Thank you man, I'm glad you had fun watching it and even tho I knew this episode was anticipated, nothing could prepare me for it, it's too good! :D

markosanimejourney

Thank you very much for the comment man, very well said. Yeah, when the person is trying so hard to abstain from doing something that is damaging to them, the worst thing it can happen is that ''one'' drink or punch which usually leads people to go back to old behaviour and is very hard to overcome. I really don't understand people who would be dissapointed after Thorfinn's oath. The stuff he thinks and dreams about are monstrous and terrifying nightmeres, the guilt is eating him alive, he could easily lose his sanity if that kept going on. He finally accepted his past and understood his fathers words. He is now being reborn, but will always remember the past to keep him away from doing the same mistakes. Idk how can anyone say something negative about all of this, wtf...

Love this episode and arc so much. You would be surprised how many anime only hate S2 of Vinland Saga. This was expected because of lack of fights and comedy. Although manga readers love Slave arc. But even I didn´t expect people to hate "new" Thorfinn so much. People are asking questions like: Will he stay this pathetic? Will he start fighting, or should I drop it? What episode they start fighting? (literally ignoring the shows message) Thorfinn is bad character, pathetic, loser, trash, bring back old Thorfinn etc.. And they also complain about the animation. As you said are we even watching the same show? Btw this gives you some idea why people hate Subaru so much just x100 :D

markosanimejourney

Ahhh man, that really kinda triggers me. Idk what's wrong with people. Watching the show only for fights and ignoring the message is just plain dumb, maybe it's better for them to drop it if they don't appreciate the good writing. I mean maybe Vinland Saga is not a thing for everyone, I'm sure there are some other bettter reasons, but this episode is literally peak and if they don't rock with this, they just don't understand what's this all about lol. Subaru is just a goofball haha, he is a good kid, I have no problem with him at all. :D

It's soo good to see Askeladd also because of Madara's VA. My man Thors was here too. Good reaction, Marko
