It's been around only a 1 year since the Askeladd death and Thorfinn's first meeting with Einar (June 1015)

Remember that people from the north were already settling in England for many decades before this time. Einar is for sure a Nordic name, but he doesn't have to be a Dane. There were also settlements of Norwegian people in Northern England. So most likely they were taken out during the time when the King of England decided to kill every Dane (remember the river bathing scene when the English killed all the Danes?). Also it's important do differentiate between the Dane soldiers (controlled by king) and the Dane Vikings (pirates, Askeladd's group for example) who did whatever they wanted. It wasn't uncommon for vikings to attack Norwegian settlements due to do the long standing rivalry between Norwegian/Swedish/Danish vikings. They were fighting each other as much as they were fighting on foreign lands lol
