Honorable mentions of characters who have died this season: 1) Ragnar, a poor man his own son died very young and then he sees Canute as his son. Ragnar raises him and becomes overprotective, fearing losing Canute too. The bond between Canute and Ragnar was very strong. Till the end, Ragnar cared only about Canute even when he was dying 2) Ear and Bjorn 3) Every villager that was killed during the raids 4) Warriors who believed that they will go to Valhalla after death Askeladd is a kinda fathers killer: first his own, then Thors, and then Ragnar and King Sweyn

This is truly one of the all time great anime episodes. Askeladd solidified as one of the greatest characters of all time. Vinland Saga has only just begun! I am certain you will love the next arc. I highly recommend reading the manga at some point because IMO, it is the best version of the story as the art is incredible and you get the full uncut version of the story. Maybe a good idea to read it once you finish season 2 (which so far, has been slightly lacking when compared to its manga counterpart IMO, but still great nonetheless.) The chapter where Askeladd kills the king is called "The Hero Returns" in the manga, which is just brilliant. Excited for you to see how the rest of the story plays out!

I will think about reading manga, I prefer watching anime and sharing my reactions with you guys, but if I have to wait a long time for season 3 I just might pick up the manga honestly, it's such an incredible show! The Hero Returns is such a nice name for a chapter, damn,.. I just got chills! :D
