First thing to mention is we will be updating the packages for enabling Maxis clothes to be recolorable.

We will be releasing these soon.

  • My Wedding Stories
  • Modern Menswear Kit
  • Carnaval Streetwear Kit

Second thing to note is that we'll publish patches for the changes EA made over the past few months, including the fingernail texture changes.

Speaking of patches, we're thinking about creating an auto-updater program that would enable very small patch sizes, so instead of having to download the (currently) 1.84 GB of patches each update, you'll only need to download what actually changed in that update.

We estimate this will lower patch sizes to about 10 to 200 MBs per update, depending on how much was added or changed.

We're also thinking of removing the patches files entirely, and using the auto-updater to patch the existing packages with newer ones. The current system is finnicky and sometimes loads the textures in the wrong order sometimes. I think updating the base packages would be great at simplifying things.

Third, we also want to change the naming scheme. Right now, it doesn't call packs by their name, for example, The Sims 4: Get to Work. It instead uses the pack number instead, such as EP01, which is very confusing if you don't know the list of pack ids to pack names.

I plan on changing the names from this:

to this:

I think the addition of the pack name greatly helps with understanding which package files go with which pack.

I'm also planning to change how the Google Drives folder is listed. Right now, as with the filenames, it's listed using pack id instead of pack name. It's also sorted by category, but I want to change it to display by pack as default.

Here is what it is currently

and here is what  want to change it to.

I also want to change the name of "Glasses_Gloves_Socks_Necklaces" to simply Accessories.

What do you think of all this?

FAQ:

Will I need to redownload all the package files so the mod will still work from this point forward?

  • I'm planning to accommodate packages even from the very first version of color sliders. I'm including a tool with the auto-updater to rename packages so they match the new file name formatting.

Will the Color Sliders CC Converter ever be released?

  • We planned to release this early last year, but I could never get performance fast enough to work great on low-end computers. I'm afraid that if I release it, I get tons of complaints because it won't work on people's computers. :(

I really like all the proposed updates here. I have been having trouble with the nails in my game and suspected it could be this mod but I love it too much to uninstall and find out 💛. I personally would appreciate the name changes because I’m not able to recall which pack is which without coming back and referencing the main post.

As for me, it would be easier to look it up under its pack name than a number. It is easier to remember--but that is just for me. I really appreciate the thought, and the fact that the package will be smaller because I think with all the Sims 4 packs and mods, we are really putting a load on our computer's memory.
