I've always thought putting the original characters of readers into the story was a great reflection of the interesting sorts of people you unexpectedly meet when you're at anime conventions, and I've worked hard to integrate them believably in a way that makes for a compelling story.

That said... I feel the waifu-tier sidestories will lose coherency if they go on and on indefinitely, so I'm announcing that Afterparty will be the conclusion of the waifu-tier sidestory subplots, and the closing of the Waifu-tier.

Right now, I'll say that leaves us with three more Waifu-tier chapters (that's still quite a bit), in whatever order Staff-tier and up patrons decide I write them in, and then everything will wrap up with a fourth and final Waifu-tier chapter in Afterparty.

Option A: Eating Out

Option B: Eighteen and Up

Option C: Staff's Choice

Finale: Afterparty

The bonus chapters will continue after the closure of Waifu-tier, but no longer feature original characters submitted from patrons--they'll trade off between ones focused on AnimeCon Harem characters (such as the much-asked-for Lucky to Have Me chapter) and Goblina sidestory chapters from RE: Trailer Trash (the story that Tabitha is writing).

I understand this may potentially be an unpopular decision with some, but I ask for your understanding--there's a limit to how many characters I can write in without everyone getting sidelined simultaneously, and I don't want the amount of side-story content to massively dwarf the actual main story itself.

I'll likely reopen the Waifu-tier option in the future, when I'm diving into AnimeCon Harem's planned sequel: Rennfaire Fantasy.

You could also put a limit on how many Patreons can subscribe to the Waifu tier, as a way to limit new characters.

The main reason I like this is the 'also.' It's a perfectly viable storytelling option, just so long as it's kept in check; I hope that things go this way (at least for such meet-ups full of esoteric individuals) in future.

I just wanted to support the writing you're doing. If you're getting frayed by the amount of pledge characters, you could adjust it in the future so that folks of a certain tier could suggest character outlines, and then have everyone on that tier vote for the x number that you actually have space/motivation for. That way you're giving folks a chance, and then their peers will pick the ones they thing are the most interesting for this story (and maybe you throw in another one later if the mood strike you). That way your commitment stays fairly manageable and you get to side-step any potential guilt for not trying to get all the flavor characters in. Or, if that's not your concern, you just pick the handful you think will improve the story.
