October 2018 Update (Patreon)

Back to writing smut! It's been too long.

This month, I'll be aiming at getting back into the flow of things. Two chapters/stories a week, a poll every now and then. No huge plans other than putting out new chapters and stories. Both Taming Tess and Roots of Control will be coming to a close fairly soon, but what will follow them can wait 'til next month.

One thing very much worth mentioning though:

Later this month I'll also be changing one of the payment settings for Patreon. A lot of people abuse the way Patreon works to take content without paying. Basically, they make a pledge with no intention of following through, take all the rewards associated with that pledge, then cancel at the end of the month only to repeat the cycle again the next month. In order to prevent this, I'll be activating a setting titled "Charge Patrons up front".

Before I go further, I'll mention right now - this will not affect anyone who is already a patron. You don't have to worry about being charged extra or anything like that.

What the setting does is make it so that patrons pay up-front when they make a pledge, rather than waiting until the beginning of the next month. It means that someone pledging, say, $5 will pay that $5 when they make the pledge, then pay it once again along with everyone else on the 1st of the next month.

it's not ideal, and it's not something I want to do - I like the idea of the 'first month is free/try before you buy' type of thing and giving people the freedom to decide if they think my stories are worth being pledged to. But with the number of people cheating the system, it's really my only option other than either letting these people continue to cheat the system, or individually blocking each and every one (which is what I've been doing until now). Problem with blocking them, of course, is they can simply create a new account and continue what they were doing before.

As I said, this won't have any effect on those who are already patrons. Anyone who is a patron prior to me changing that setting will not be charged at all, even if they're a new patron this month.

I'll be changing this setting at the end of the month. I'll make a post when I've done it because, even if it doesn't effect y'all, I feel that being open with what I'm doing here on Patreon is the best thing to do. And I kind of owe you that honesty what with how you're financially supporting what I'm doing here and everything.
