It's December! And while that normally means Christmas things on LGR, this collection of Duke games was just released and there was no way I wasn't going to cover it.

Especially since I got to be involved in making them! A little bit, at least! Turns out that I inadvertently put things in motion regarding the Duke Nukem 1 and 2 remakes included here, since after seeing my LGR Blerbs video about Rigel Engine, folks at Blaze reached out to the developer and hired him to turn the project into an officially licensed thing. Then I was brought on over the summer to playtest early builds and provide feedback during development, and it's been a real treat to see the whole thing come together.

Next week will be a more typical LGR holiday special of sorts, but y'all know I gotta make time for the Duke so here we are. Hope you enjoy this one, as I sure enjoyed having an excuse to play a whole buncha Duke Nukem 😁

Duke Nukem 1+2 Remastered 30 Years Later! Evercade Collection Review

this is SO rad. DN1 was my childhood. recently got it working on my 5150 with an Intel Inboard 386 (fitted with a 486 drop in) - do you think they’d ever re-release it for DOS with the newer soundtrack? no need for widescreen on an 5154, if that’s the selling point for Evercade

LazyGameReviews

Unfortunately not likely. As mentioned in the video the original source code for Duke 1 and 2 was lost ages ago, and these new ones are completely reverse engineered ports that don't contain code from the DOS games. It'd have to be a completely new project to then port it back to DOS!

ah man.. the lack of Bobby Prince's DN2 soundtrack is a real bummer
