LGR - The 'Final' Big Box PC Games Released

Taking an unscripted look at some of the last big box PC games! Several of these ended up hitting Sam's Club shelves from 2003 to 2005 alongside their smaller counterparts. A fun oddity to collect!

Hot damn, seeing that old big box Far Cry I sent ya on YouTube really is something. I'm surprised you didn't take off that price sticker at the top corner.

Hehe, it's a great piece in the collection, that's for sure. And yeah, I think the price sticker is part of its history, so I keep it there!

My last big box PC game I purchased brand new was MechWarrior 4. My next purchase after that was Morrowind which came in a smaller box, but still had all the extras like the fold-out map and whatnot. :B

Phoo ... I picked up The Orange Box and Halo; Xanadar and Velvet Assassin discounted very heavily lately. Boxed games are a rarity and a privilege.

Always annoyed me that Morrowind only came in a smaller box. Worldwide too, as far as I can tell, which is weird since it was 2002 and plenty of big box releases happened that year.

I remember when I first found the Sims, back when you just saw a game in the store and bought it if the cover and back of the box looked cool. It came with that huge instruction manual in it. I had the original one before they even added deluxe. But sadly my parents sold my games in a garage sale. Traumatizing! :( I remember that the boxes became smaller but I didn't really think about why at the time. I did miss the manual being included in the box though bc I always read them!

I found that Warcraft 3 box in the infamous "Trader 3" in Akiba Japan, actually it was on the same trip when I bought you that Super Potato T-shirt! GET YOUR WONDER SOFT WORLD I do love a good ol' big box game, it was worth the 4 year wait to get Broken Age in said format!

OMFG Star Trek TNG A Final Unity Collectors! That is freaking awesome. I never knew it had a CE release, but man I played that game for so many hours as a kid.
