Greetings, folks! So Halloween happened. And I spent it thrifting! Or really, I spent the last five months visiting thrift stores off and on and slowly gathering enough footage to assemble into a new Thrifts episode... But I did also do a good chunk of thrifting and editing this video together on Halloween.

Anyway yeah, enjoy a new LGR Thrifts! I'll get the intro audio glitch fixed before Friday but lemme know if you notice any other errors.

Ahh, fall bargain hunting. Checking out the usual thrift stores in my area and seeing what kinds of retro tech and random old oddities I can find. Along with another random store that I visited in Winston-Salem while on a trip over the summer. Let's go thrifting! ● LGR links: https://www.patreon.com/LazyGameReviews https://www.twitter.com/LazyGameReviews https://www.facebook.com/LazyGameReviews ● Tracks used in order of appearance: "Branches", "Mining By Moonlight", and "Spy Groove" https://danosongs.com/home https://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/full_list.php #LGR #Thrifting #Shopping

Assuming the CRT on the magnifier was high up enough, I could see that being a great setup for close-up soldering! Sure you could buy one of those fancy microscope and cameras but CRT is so much cooler

I'm genuinely in love with that Fujitsu keyboard you got, that thing was gorgeous and sounded amazing. I also can't help but imagine that Telesensory thing coulda been fun for looking in close at components during repair/project/oddware videos, even though that's really not that convenient and I'm sure your camera would zoom clean enough anyway if you really wanted. Oh and I look forward to an Oddware or Blerb on that Big Green Disc thing for sure.

I used things like the Aladdin in a low-vision program in school. We called them "CCTV"s because that's technically correct?? I tried looking up modern equivalents and they seem to be expensive, but you'd usually be in some sort of support program that'd buy it for you. I think I had one at some point but didn't actively need it myself :/ I now have something similar and cheaper that's sold as being useful for soldering but haven't set it up yet.

LazyGameReviews

Exactly what I was thinking! But yeah, it wasn't the *greatest* of fidelity and it would just be one extra step to go through when filming any repairs. Especially since I can just use a macro lens and get better visuals for folks.

LazyGameReviews

I guess technically CCTV would be correct, yeah! The way it's built it is effectively an all-in-one CCTV setup.

The FM Towns machines were made by fujitsu and used an 8 pin keyboard connector, although I think a different 8 pin connector. I suspect it's related though.

I once had a ton of those Dell Keyboards, I regret not keeping one on a daily basis! They are great

Man, I WISH our Goodwill would organize all the kids media together. I would love to get the kiddos more media that's not just streaming.

Brett Walton

I recently picked up a Kingston trio record at good will.

LazyGameReviews

Ah that darned hindsight and accompanying regrets... They really are great, such highly satisfying key movement.

For example the N860-2277-T001 is an fm towns keyboard model. Pretty darn similar although maybe that's just what fujitsu liked to call their keyboards.

I was still kinda hoping that you'd go back and get the CRT magnifier thing.

Matthew Taylor

Shhhh, you’re leaking my secret Winston location :) they have had pcs like that for years and were even better years back before the goodwill site.

The 8-pin on FM Towns, FMR, and (some?) FACOM computers is different - https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?t=4843 . I wonder if a simple converter needs to be made.

LazyGameReviews

That same location has been on Thrifts before as well, I always make a point of stopping there when I'm back in the Piedmont. Always an impressive allotment of computer stuff but this was the best spread I've seen in years!

Ahhh. That leaf season nostalgia hits hard. The first thirty years of my life was spent solidly in the foothills of NC and every Fall I miss the best season of the year living in FL. Thanks for the stunning reminder! Episode 50, you say? Perhaps a viewer- or Patreon-inspired thrifting road trip might fit the bill? The area with the most shops with the best selection in a certain mile radius or some such? The thriftiest thrifters thrifting thriftily ask for a Big Silver Blowout! (No idea how many takes that would take to say clearly, but feel free to try! :)

Dude. Had a hoooooooorrrrrrrribble day including failing twice to apply my Whitestone dome protective glas on my new pixel 7 pro. TWICE! And spilled UV-hardening glue all over myself. Feeling sorry for my self. What can help a sad swede in that particular condition? LGR blerb AND thrifting! *Almost happy again* Thanks for putting a smile on my face time after time.. your a hero of sorts.

Wow - I'm amazed by the fall colors that you get there. Here in Southern California, all we get for fall colors are Halloween pumpkins and Christmas trees in the stores before Halloween.
