Regarding your desire to make an eccentric Sim, I respond "Spore?" I give the video three out of seven pepperoni slices.

I don't know, it really does seem like a give-and-take situation. On the one hand, I like that they've made a lot of the customization interfaces more intuitive - grab a part and drag to the desired position instead of adjusting a slightly more cumbersome slider. And yeah, the tattoos in Sims 3 sucked hard, so nice to see those possibly improving.

On the other hand, I feel like they're playing it too safe, and I find myself wondering, aside from ease of use, what improvements they've actually made to the create-a-sim mode from Sims 3. Everything sounds to be about the same as what I have now, with nothing really giving me the "that's new and cool" factor that I got from previous series. The closest I can get is that it seems that they've expanded the parts of the body you can tweak beyond just the face, so you could have someone who's skinny except with ginormous feet or a person who's butt somehow forms a completely flat surface. Still, not nearly enough to grab me for the switchover yet: as you say, what about hair tweaking? What about custom clothing style and colors? And what about my long-held dream of finally making "one-finger Pete the fireworks expert"?!

Part of that may just be because of EA's silence on the game's development and features (complacency on their side that we'll just buy the game regardless, perhaps? It *is* EA...). I really think that if they did some promo vids with someone from the dev team explaining/showing some of the newer features from Sims 3, that would help a lot here. Still, it's their game, so they're free to market it (or not) how they want to, I suppose.

I don't know why? But the look of the sims really reminds me of the sims 2! Not that it's a problem, I actually preferred the sims 2 over the sims 3 in a lot of aspects. As always, an awesome review/thinking thoughts(?) video! Oh, and I too love stuff! Stuff is stuff and stuff!

LazyGameReviews

It does to me as well, with a hint of something new and it's certainly growing on me. And thanks, three cheers for stuff!

Yeah there really appears to be a lot of "one step forward, two steps back" going on for a lot of people. So many little things that went into making The Sims 3 a more interesting and involved game that don't appear to be in this one is concerning. As awesome as the new emotions and multitasking may end up being, I do wonder if this will be the most barebones base game since The Sims 1.
