LGR - Liberty or Death - DOS PC Game Review

Give me liberty or give me DOS! Ward off the British during the American Revolutionary War, or capture the American commander-in-chief. It's up to you to eat cheeseburgers.

Yay for new LGR!

I really enjoy the shots of the game playing on an old computer. Please keep doing this :)

I have to admit - I find the whole developed by a non-US team aspect really interesting with this, just from the whole outsider perspective. And yes, the atmosphere of the review was nicely bolstered up by showing it on hardware with nice mood lighting :)

4:50 -> nice computer pr0n ! :)

yeah likewise actually. Somehow, it just brought me back 20 years ago, in my room :) neat little angle

I was never a fan of these types of games but I do like history so I might give it a try if I ever came across it. Nice job Clint.

Wow! I forgot Koei made games like this, though on the other hand a revolution era dynasty warriors game would be fun. Great review!

1:12 - did you seriously gather and set up all that stuff JUST to shoot that epic 'MERICUH scene with the game box? Holy crap, dude. Hope those sparklers weren't too much of a fire hazard.

LazyGameReviews

Yes, yes I did :D And those were Morning Glories, which are a HUGE fire hazard compared to sparklers! This was filmed outside, haha

Lindsay Michelle

Yeah, that was probably a smart move to shoot that outside. I would have been afraid the box would catch on fire or at least have burn marks... haha

LazyGameReviews

It actually left major burn marks in the table it was sitting on! So much for that thing, it was plastic anyway

mavrick

queen of scots didnt make the cut I see what you did there

After watching this, I started to think about parts of my country's (Australia's) history that would make good strategy/simulation games. We have had a few small-scale internal conflicts (like the Eureka Rebellion), and participated in major conflicts from WW1 onwards. Apart from our defeat at Gallipoli in WW1, I can't think of anything that would be "as Australian" as the Independence War is American for you (at least anything that would make a good strategy game). I hope that makes sense! Also this: http://i.imgur.com/JyWNFJ0.jpg :P

Are you going to cover more of the localized Koei DOS games sometime later? Celtic Tales: Balor of the Evil Eye and Uncharted Waters: New Horizons would be worth a look. Koei also did a bilingual adventure game called EMIT (which has two sequels).
