My first impression of Thief back in the day was amazing. It was my first time experiencing a stealth game. But as soon as I had to start swordfighting with guards, I completely lost interest. Unfortunately, I never went back to try again.

This the one computer I've always been curious about. But have never owned. Kind of reminds me of the Tandy 1000EX.

Awesome, Clint. I remember only having a demo of Thief in an Eidos demo disc when I was a kid (I think I borrowed it from someone who bought one of the Tomb Raider games), but I loved every second of it.

I've got this game sitting in a box somewhere, unplayed. I think I'll change that soon!

As you mention, the sequel dialled down the supernatural elements and focused and polished the core mechanics. I purchased an Aureal soundcard pretty much for this game, as it used the Aureal spatial modelling to create very accurate sound propagation. Many years, perhaps a decade, ahead of Sound Blaster technology. It rings a faint bell, so perhaps Clint has covered Aureal - if not it would be great to see a video looking at an Aureal card :) More details here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A3D

A3D is awesome, I use a Diamond Monster Sound MX400 Vortex2 card to record any games on Windows the support it. Hoping to do a video on it someday!
