EDIT: Video has been updated a fair bit, with footage of the Director's Edition, a new "slow-mo montage," and multiple clarifications, corrections, and expanded thoughts throughout. Should now be the final version that'll go public next week. Enjoy!

Can't wait to watch when I get home. I love this game so much. The graphics, the gameplay, the AI, the atmosphere. One of the best horror games, kinda sad it's fallen to the wayside, but at the same time, I'm glad they stopped messing with the formula after the 3rd. This was THE game I showed my console gamer buddies and it floored them every time.

I'm very much in the minority, but I actually liked Perseus Mandate more than Extraction Point. Neither is as good as the original, of course. This was a staple of my benchmarking toolkit back when I was into overclocking.

i remember this game being one of the goriest games

I absolutely lived in this game in 2010. The flashlight was awful though, like you were a walking lighthouse beacon

Love this game. I played it a lot later than most people since I got it in a bundle around 2012-2013 but I still think it looks really good and plays great.

I used to play the FEAR Combat free multiplayer thing, it was super fun.

The thing that really took me out of the first game was the Nedry character. it even played silly background music everytime you saw him

Ohhhh yes. This game was my life for a good few months in Highschool. It's still one of my favorites, and the second one even held a candle to the original. It's a shame that the third one was such a big letdown!

LazyGameReviews

Agreed, the sequels never held up to the first. Especially F-THREE-AR. I do remember 2 being quite fun though.

I did play the game a bit, but wasn't that interested. By then I had started to only want to play cretin types of games. I used to be so much more open minded, and could enjoy different types of games.

I only ever played the multiplayer. I remember the office complex level being absolutely nuts. Good stuff.

Never played the game, but I loved P.A.N.I.C.S back in the day.

I replayed this one a bit a few months ago and it still totally holds up in terms of gameplay. I think it feels better than F.E.A.R 2 to be honest.

So does this mid-2000's kick mean you're gonna cover HL2?

I hope you get a chance to try Fallout 3 on the system!

i still have this game in disc form and it's expansion. i'll do a comment on the creative vid for the card i had on an alienware laptop i use to have.

LazyGameReviews

Agreed on that point. Though I haven't played the second one since launch. Hm maybe that says enough, heh.

I remember endlessly tweaking this game trying to get the best possible visuals at a reasonable frame rate.

I remember seeing Nocturne on your shelf in a bunch of early videos, any chance you'll take a look at that some day?

Alyxx the Rat

Man you're making me wanna replay FEAR. Good job!

Almost sounds like Coach Z "his reflexes are off the cheorts"

Oh man I remember playing FEAR with my P3 and GeForce 4MX. It ran like crap and I had to use a patch I found online that enabled 50% resolution rendering - so, basically, the game was running at 320x240. It ran like butter but I couldn't see a damn thing.
