It's edutainment month? Sweet. Been looking forward to it. I have a strange fondness for edutainment

LazyGameReviews

Sure have, I've got a playlist going back seven years :) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE6039486A9B854CC

I played this on my dads on Apple back in the late 90s. it had more adlib sounding music from memory on that system.

Yay, Edutainment Month!

LazyGameReviews

Ooh, I'd be quite curious to hear some of that when it's ready to be shared

That intro card with the graph paper was ahhhhmazing! Nice vid as always!

I guess we should just give kids a bunch of edutainment games since all the teachers are going on strike in April.

Kris Asick

This game is highly educational in that it teaches kids that the numeric keypad used to be on the left side of our keyboards! 8D

I never played this game before, but I have the same reaction to these kinds of graphics and music. The intro to the game alone made me ecstatic.

Gotta love edutainment month. Right up there with the xmas clone intros.

Troy Wilkins

Wow, that ending to that "game" was very unexpected, hahaha

This looks like a fairly complex programming job for the time, though, it's gotta be said. Looks great, too. I think I'd have liked it. Edutainment month.. hmmmm.

Steve Skafte

This is a great month, I look forward to it every year. Thanks so much for doing it! Always reminds me of the scam we ran on our parents for more gaming time. "But Mom, it's educational!" Secretly knowing that we'd try our best not to learn anything. Some of the games that stick in my head the most are from the Learning Company, though I couldn't tell you anything they actually taught me. It was all about the game, man. The less education, the better. Haha. That's just what Steves do.

Clint, if you're ever up in D.C., you should look into the Library of Congress' video game collection for sure. A large component of it up until relatively recently (~2012) were edutainment games, and that still remains a large chunk of the collection now. By a very rough check of the "Educational Games" subject, there's at least 800 video games we're talking here, to say nothing of the broader "Video Games" collection which numbers in the thousands. Get a library card and dive in, I say!

LazyGameReviews

Went there years back and it's fantastic, I need to visit again. The Strong in New York has an unbelievable edutainment collection as well!

4:53, surprise Xzibit

I’m just relieved this wasn’t another April fools video because if I see one more I may just go insane and eat my own face just to escape it all? :P

makes me wish i grew up with computers.

Can’t stand the April Fools stuff, feels like such an effort to avoid wasting my time on gags.

Edutainment month yessss. Surprised you did the super solvers series. I went from reader rabbit to math blaster to super solvers. And then to jumpstart. My dad marketed he jumpstart series to me as being “like myst for kids” . that jerk.

Tom S

Also - I can’t be the only one who played Math Ace with the little blue robot in elementary school, right?

Mac84

Wow, this takes me back. I remember seeing other kids playing this game at school back in the day, so it must have been at hit at the computer lab. The other popular game was some math challenge educational game which involved race cars for the Macintosh.

Haha... how many knew that while diving underwater in the suit.. the composer stole the music from Mezzoforte's "Take off" from the album Rising... did you know that Clint? :D https://youtu.be/Y0ifgNgq1I4?t=259

Great video.. wish I could say the same about the game, but it doesn't look very appealing to me. Maybe it would have been if I had played it in my youth, though.

I remember playing the demo for this game a lot. I did download a full version via torrent once, and played the game to completion, I since deleted it since it was pirated...
