This shareware title has been effectively "lost" for over twenty years, if my research is any indication. I'll be uploading the CD-ROM to archive.org once this goes public, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy the video!

Ford Simulator 7.0 - 1996 Virtual Showroom CD-ROM

The long-lost seventh iteration of Ford Simulator has been found! Not that anyone cares but me. Still, these digital product catalogs were fun in the mid '90s, especially when they're as full of FMV as this. ● Consider supporting LGR on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/LazyGameReviews ● Social links: https://twitter.com/lazygamereviews https://www.facebook.com/LazyGameReviews ● Music used in order of appearance: A Playful Mood 2, Suits & Neckties 1, Stuck In Between 1, Frook - My Oh My http://www.epidemicsound.com

its nice to find a rare game

Anonymous

This is seriously aesthetic, I'm gonna have to find it myself.

Anonymous

On what planet were the marketing department living on when they allowed this to go out? I mean the FMV and spec sheets, fair play, but the game??? Jesus.

Anonymous

Haha! Do you mean to tell us you DON’T want to buy a luxurious sedan from listening to that smooth, sexy saxophone? You are weird, Sir! 😂🙈😘

Clemente d'Angelo

I want it. Hype for your upload on Archive.org

avfusion

I hear that if you buy a candy bar at every gas station on the map... Nothing happens

Anonymous

Mmm, that's what I like to do when driving, listening to saxaphones.

Anonymous

btw LGR do you have Driver's Education '98 from Sierra Entertainment because i remember playing on my old windows me pcs it let you drive in a open world and i laugh at it when the drive insector is mad at you and wants to get out of the car or lets you know to slow down.

Great vid Clint. Not sure if you know about it but on steam there's Ford Racing 3 which you might like. It even uses a controller to make it easier although that's debatable.

LazyGameReviews

Yeah the Ford Racing series is an interesting thing into itself! I got the first one on PS2 back in the day

LazyGameReviews

Nothing quite like a video that's maybe 100px across and accompanied by cheesy, possibly synthesized saxophone music to sell someone a car

Terry Lee

Ford simulator? Are you sure this doesn't classify as oddware? because it's certainly odd to me.plays like a racing game but it's not marketing it as a racing game? Not good enough to be a racing game?

Anonymous

Elon Musk take note. :D

LazyGameReviews

Hehe, it's on the verge of being Oddware, yeah. Most places seem to classify them as games though, although I don't totally agree.

Nicholas Wilson

You’ve been playing Ford simulators for 27 years… and you still haven’t learned from your mistake? LOL! :P

So from what I gather the game is still MSDOS running as a PIF pointing to the EXE. Is that correct?

LazyGameReviews

I can't help it, it's like watching a train wreck. A train wreck that's an advertisement for 90s vehicles.

LazyGameReviews

Possibly but I'm not 100% sure! It will only load under Windows from directly through the main menu. There is a separate "ARCADE.EXE" program that I assume it's opening, but it doesn't run under DOS and pops up an error if you make the attempt.

Anonymous

Are you going to be archiving this? I’m sure the rest of the internet is just dying to get their hands on this lol

Wow, I LOVE this product... Especially owning a 1996 Ford F-250... I want it to play with it with those 90s Ford vehicles that had such an imprint on my life. The Taurus/Sable was manufactured in my Metropolitan hometown(Atlanta) which has now been demolished. (Plant) The good times....

I like how the buildings in this "game" are smaller than the road signs. If you're not going to put any effort in to it, why have it on the disc at all? Just so that you can call it a simulator?

LazyGameReviews

It does seem to be a bit of a vestigial limb at that point. Simply there because all the others had it.

LazyGameReviews

Definitely check back tomorrow then, I'll be sharing the disc contents for everyone, including scans of the packaging

So what you're saying is that it's the Seinfeld of programmes.

That store clerk has 'Deranged Serial Killer' written all over his face... Thank you for sharing this odd piece of software history, Clint!

Troy Wilkins

This is fascinating to see vehicles we had here in Australia, but with different names, and vehicles we never got here. I'd love to check this out for comparison to what we had here, such as our Ford Falcon, witch was our 'family car' with 6 cylinder and v8 versions.

Such false advertisement. Where's the part where you insist your fan-favorite character to be killed off? What about when you rescue trapped civilians with your own private helicopter? There's not even a section where you just start wearing an earring for a while.

I've been looking for some more multimedia CD titles to play on my Compaq 4/66 (486DX2 66) and I can't wait until tomorrow when I can burn this, and play it under Windows 3.1!

Lindsay Michelle

I sort of miss the days of floppy disk and CD advertisements/freeware... just doesn't have the same sort of nostalgia just finding everything on the internet nowadays. I remember that old Ford Simulator review the most out of your oldest reviews for some reason; must be all that super exciting car simulation! And I can't believe it's going to be 10 years since you started making videos on Youtube o.o

I used to play with these simulators back in the DOS days.. I seem to remember a Buick simulator that was kind of cool because it simulated the center screen on some of their more advanced cars that had a CRT screen in the center console such as the Regal and Reatta.

Thanks for making this available, can't wait to get my hands on it, I love virtual catalogs. Here's a link to a Virtual Taco Bell from 1997. https://web.archive.org/web/19990508201945/http://www.jelloboy.com:80/taco/taco.htm

Well, you've been around since the early days of YouTube content reviews which deserves props, even if you dislike the passage of time in itself :P

Ezydenias

You know there is a German saying "Mit Ford fährt man fort und mit der Bahn zurück" Which roughly translates to: With a ford you drive away and with the train back.

Anonymous

Seems like I remember how you could do things like a drag race in the really early Ford Simulator, and it made a big difference what car you chose.
