Toast sent me a Switch wrap made from real walnut, so let's put it together and see if it's worth doing yourself!  EDIT: added a new outro showing the removal.

Applying Toast's Wooden Switch Wrap! [A Review]

Trying out the walnut wood veneer cover from Toast for the Nintendo Switch game console! It looks fantastic, but seeing as it's a skin made from real wood how is it in terms of practicality? ● Here's where they sell the toasty wrap itself: http://www.toastmade.com/products/nintendo-switch-dock.html ● Consider supporting LGR on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/LazyGameReviews ● Social links: https://twitter.com/lazygamereviews https://www.facebook.com/LazyGameReviews ● Music used in order of appearance: Suits & Neckties 1, Book of Jazz 2, Book of Jazz 1 http://www.epidemicsound.com

Personally I wouldn't keep that skin on there. Maybe the dock but not the system. Not a big fan of decals in general myself.

LazyGameReviews

Yep, I've already taken it off the Switch itself, haha. I'd be happy if it was a thin skin, but being wood with some thickness just doesn't make practical sense in this case.

I hate how the grains don't match up, snug fit in the dock, don't think I'd like the feel of the wood against my hands while playing with it either.. Cool idea but sadly doesn't look like it panned out. D-Brand do some cool stuff.. Wish they'd make something for my Alienware 15R3. Preferably removable.

LazyGameReviews

Totally, it doesn't make much of any sense with a handheld, dockable system like the Switch. I think it'd be great for the PS4 or a PC though!

Love the look (minus the mismatched grains), but I probably wouldn't end up running it on the controller itself either. I think I'd keep it on the dock, though!

A neat concept... In concept. Btw Clint, I just took a look at their site (I don't know when you recorded this), and the price for the Switch AND the dock is $59.00 USD. Not $39.99 as you stated in this video :o

Cool concept, but I feel like it needed a little more R&D before selling it.

Alyxx the Rat

Haha, if there is woodgrain for it, you will add it

The true question is how difficult was it to remove it afterwards?

Did it come off without wrecking the surface of the Switch?

LazyGameReviews

Agreed. Although, I'm not sure the issues even *can* be resolved with the kind of wood they're using

Wow cool vid!!! I am loving my Switch as is, so I am not going to put any skins on it :D IT is the Neon one so it looks pretty awesome already!

Dang it, I'd probably leave that on there forever. I love modern/retro stuff. :)

I can see what they were trying, and yes, it does look aesthetically pleasing… but the impact it has on the controllability… I don't think it's worth it in practice.

LazyGameReviews

I would too if it wasn't so uncomfortable! Keeping it on the dock though, since I don't have to touch it

A real shame it feels (even more) uncomfortable with the skin on, at least it looks and works okay on the docking station.
