Bit of a different one here! A quickly-made rant/ramble video about the state of The Sims 4 and the recent news that The Sims 5 is not in active development.

No early access for the one, as it was just a bit of filler to go up while I continue working on the next main LGR videos.

Back sometime soonish with whichever one is done first. Thank you as always for your support!

Lots of interesting takes on this one! And maybe you can take advantage of EA's business strategy to benefit your own business by doing "seasonal" Sims videos that land somewhere around the big yearly discount sales (Holidays, Winter, etc) so you get traffic boost from people looking for opinions to make informed decisions for their purchases. I think everybody wins with this approach: you give seasoned LGRSims fans their fix of your great content, you take advantage of the seasonality of content consumption's ebb & flow, and EA shareholders makes an extra penny or two per second.

Intrigued to hear about the Simsone (spelling?) remaster and potential coverage of TSO !

Surly Game Reviews Kidding, of course. I understand where you're coming from.

I have my own thoughts about the Sims franchise but agree with you on many, many points. And I appreciate them bc I know you love the game (at least what the game USED to be) I just miss the old, weird mysteriousness of Sims 2. I can't believe Sims 4 has gone on THIS LONG in it's wild, broken, and quite frankly boring state. Thank you for covering this, Clint!!!

(Unspoken) Official EA Response: Shut up and just give us your money, fools. It's IN THE GAME

I think a happy compromise might be doing a Sim4 yearly wrap-up .. that way people get some LGR "Sims" content and you don't go crazy out of your gord....

I first came to your videos via oddware, maybe 3-4 years ago. I love sim city, but I think I've played any 'the sims' title for maybe 2 hours? I watch almost all your videos and the best ones are the ones you are excited about. Your interest and passion about what you're talking about is what keeps me watching.

I was wondering if you were you going to do any sort of video in response to the canning of Sims 5 and if that was going to come before or after The Sims 2 retrospective. Looks like I have my answer and I'm looking forward to watching this tomorrow!

I like the individual reviews. (Sorry!)

Parabellum

That makes logical sense, not wanting to lose all the progress for players when they could release a new game and you have to buy all the expansion packs again that’s some more money making opportunity

Parabellum

The Sims four is like your daughter asking oh can I have 40 quid? And saying she lost that 40 quid could she have another 40

Parabellum

The reason the cities skyline two was not as well received or as popular because they released it too early when didn’t fix bugs and technical glitches before the game release, which would’ve made a difference

Parabellum

They should rename the Sims 4 to the Sims BS or the Sims succubus

NeoAllag

They're trying to tread carefully; they don't want to put all of their eggs in one basket. I think they might slowly sunset TS4 if Project Rene proves to be a success, but continue with TS4 if it flops.

Hi Clint, I finally watched this video and It sounds to me like you're burnt out the release cadence and just EA's general attitude towards the franchise these days (I would not be surprised in the least if their push for improving quality is due to decreasing content sales which is a problem of EA/Maxis' own making). I think this is totally understandable for a product that is, from my impressions of your previous videos and sentiments expressed elsewhere online, a pretty but rather vapid version of a franchise that is trying to wear the husk of its past glory days. My advice would be to follow where your interests and enthusiasm lies. I'd be really happy to see you do more coverage of older Maxis titles like The Sims 1, The Sims Online, or The Sims 2. While I still fire up The Sims 1 on the rare occassion, I think it'd be really fascinating to see your opinions on these games decades later. Especially in light of where things have gone with EA/Maxis in the intervening years. I know you've done some Let's Plays way back in the day but you seem genuinely excited about revisiting those games and I think you should follow those feelings. Also I don't think you've ever done coverage of SimCity 4 or Societies in the past so maybe that's another topic worth looking into. Or some of the lesser known Maxis games like SimLife, SimIsle, or Marble Drop. As for The Sims 4... I really enjoy watching your videos covering the expansion packs. They're entertaining and a great way to stay informed about what's going on with the franchise but I also don't think I need them the day of any given release. I'd be fine with you slowing down coverage although I sorta would like to see dedicated videos for the expansions you think are worth talking about. I think you haven't covered anything below "Expansion Pack" tier in a while and I think that's a good call. A year end wrap up would be ok with me although I'd prefer if it covered a little more than just the EPs that came out that year. Otherwise, if you need to do reviews to keep the lights on, maybe you don't have to have them ready for launch? One other I had... I don't know if you got into a lot of custom content but that's an area of Maxis' franchises I haven't really dabbled with and I would be really interested to see the occasional video going over some recommendations (your Lovestruck video mentioned some existing Sims 4 mods and name dropped 7 Deadly Sims which is certainly a name I have not heard in a long long time). Ultimately, I feel like you should do what you think is best for you and your channel. If putting The Sims 4 coverage on the backburner for a while is the right decision, then I'm all for it. P.S. - POD retro review when? :D I remember stumbling across your website way back in the day when I was looking for files after Qball's site shut down.
