YOU KNOW... sometimes, plans simply don't work out whatsoever. That's certainly been my experience lately.

For starters, I bought a 25-year-old printer and I regret everything, haha. Actually, I bought three of them in a moment of sheer delusion. Either way though, in an ideal world this was going to be a quick, fun romp into late 90s color inkjets, diving into some of my favorite printing activities when I was a youngin' with a new Windows 95 PC. In reality though, everything about this thing sucks and is awful and that should surprise no one. Least of all me but here we are 🤷‍♂️

And secondly, I was highly looking forward to attending Vintage Computer Festival East for the first time this past weekend, but a truly nasty case of norovirus/stomach flu completely sidelined that at the last minute. I spent the better part of three days existing in the bathroom deliriously nauseous (and more, ugh) and then mostly in bed for the following couple days just recuperating and attempting to stay hydrated. The only other thing I did was feed the birds outside when I could.

I finally started feeling half-normal again on Saturday, and the latter half of this video has been recorded and edited since then. Most of it was recorded a few weeks ago with the expectation of finishing it after my trip, but... yeah. All this to say that nothing worked out here.

That said, I'm finally feeling like a mostly normal human again, and am looking forward to making the next LGR episode on ANYTHING but old printers. I considered tossing this video out entirely but eh, maybe you'll enjoy the schadenfreude. Till next time, have a good week!

I bought a 25-year-old printer & regret EVERYTHING

I've made a huge mistake and ignored the first rule of vintage computing: NEVER buy an old inkjet printer, especially a 90s Canon. Yet here we are with a BJC-2000 color printer from 1999... in an ideal world this was gonna be a fun romp into Windows 95 Bubble Jet printing, plus a test of the IS-22 scanner cartridge. In reality though, everything about this thing sucks and is awful and that should surprise no one. Least of all me, but whatcha gonna do 🤷‍♂️ ● LGR links: https://www.youtube.com/@LGRBirds https://patreon.com/LazyGameReviews https://twitter.com/LazyGameReviews https://facebook.com/LazyGameReviews ● Download the archived Canon IS Scan floppy disks here: https://archive.org/details/canon-is-scan ● Background music is from Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com/ 00:00 questions 01:43 opinions 06:04 unboxing 08:59 setup 09:34 betrayal 13:08 denial 18:58 anger 25:49 suffering 28:38 acceptance #lgr #computer #retro #printing #fail

No schadenfreude involved, rather „Vorfreude“, which translates to „anticipation of joy“ for every video you post Clint.

You know, I feel a tinge of enabler's guilt for knowing that our Patreon sub money is going to these printers 😂 Thank you for confirming that attempting the same thing multiple times expecting different results may in fact lead to insanity...a cautionary tale! Keep it coming! I'm loving this tech as it takes me right back to days in the computer lab.

Just a thought while rewatching this in the background. Have you thought of soaking the cartridge in brake cleaner, contact cleaner or electronic cleaner. That is if you haven't gone all office space on those printers yet.
