After many days of work, I have to face the fact that the update won't be ready by the end of today. I could of course just butcher it in an update that is lacking most of the things I wanted to show you, but I think that would only tarnish the impact I want. 

Naturally, I apologize for my miscalculations. A part of me knew it wasn't going to cut it but I was so worried to push it further. Most of the time this happens because I get excited over an event or a zone and end up spending more time than I had planned for it originally. So please don't think it's because of laziness, I just keep thinking this or that would be so cool in the update, working on it for hours and then I realise it's 6 A.M. and I had ten other things planned for that day. Suffice it to say, I'm not good at planning, but it's nothing malicious, I really just want to do something good. Heck, the mines were supposed to be a small contained area which turned out to be bigger than the previous entire build. Everytime I find myself with one scene to draw and end up adding several shots just because I felt inspired.

So the current status as of the time of this post : 

  • The game design document is done for the 1.2, adding new areas, a couple of mechanics, but also improving upon the established ones.
  • All new sprites (the pictures when characters talk) are done, although keep in mind they're all gonna be sketches for now and are therefore not final designs.
  • Event pictures are 50% done (sketches again, but better quality than the regular placeholders), I estimate 2 more days.
  • Backgrounds are 75% done with mainly some more detailed parts of the mines needing different views. I estimate a day.
  • The new code hasn't been started. While it may seem concerning, keep in mind this update isn't about adding new mechanics. Well there will be a couple but of which the groundwork has been done. So all I need to do here is to import all assets and copy and paste the writing, making sure the conditions are in place. No crazy mind wrecking code, I estimate a couple of days. 

But I see you there counting on your fingers : "But Joël, that's 5 days, you've given yourself 7 !", well yes I did because I wnat to make sure I don't need to postpone this deadline again even if for a day. I know it's already disappointing to have had it delayed once already. On top of that I cannot work full time all of those days so I need to make sure I can attend my other duties as well, such as celebrating my husband's birthday (it's the 14th, everyone, remember to tell him!).

It’s all good , it’s not like which I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks this, that you having a massive hype train lol. All I hope is for you to never pull a Cyberpunk 2077 on us. Then again, with the way the game is styled which is a interactive visual model.... no way that could ever happen lol.

How dare you(pronounce in Gretta voice), just kidding of course. Even if it takes a week, publish something that, even being work in progress, you can be proud of.
