Project Prioritization Poll (Patreon)

Since I have all of you awesome patrons, I want to let you help me decide where to put my energy from time to time. (You’ll get to vote at the bottom, but I think an explanation is in order, first.)

Ecstasy or Oblivion is not getting much attention on furry sites, it isn’t getting views on this Patreon, and it is stagnant everywhere else. I think the pacing isn’t that good for a chapter-by-chapter format and it might be better for me to just put it up as a finished novel later on.

Yes, there’s many people who really like E or O, but it gets fewer comments, views, and faves than anything I’ve ever written. I need to pay attention to that and at least ask for input about continuing it.

This doesn’t sadden me because I’m used to the process of trying new things and seeing what people grab on to. I write for others as much as for myself and I enjoy focusing on things that resonate with people the most.

What would you like to see me spend my writing time on? (Options below.)

Mingling Universes - This would be a hybrid project where I'd make some decisions about what ideas get attention, but there'd be at least one more monthly Patreon poll letting you guys prioritize story ideas. There's a lot of them: short sexy stories about people meeting and merging with their counterparts, longer stories about the world all the magic comes from, lots of TF stuff, herm and lesbian sexy times, badass fights between mages, and I've even got an idea for some pet play if you guys are interested in that. The stories in this series would be mostly stand-alone, but together they'd give a lot of world building and a larger plot if people want to dive in.

Core’s Opportunity - This project has several chapters left before it’s complete. I’d like to finish it sooner rather than later because I know where it’s going and people are enjoying it.

Ecstasy or Oblivion - I’d continue writing novel chapters following the plot I’ve laid out for the story. I can always come back to it later. There’s blog posts and other stuff associated with this project that I can post for patrons that I can release even if I’m not working on it for a while.

Sexy one-off short stories - Projects like “Hermification Booth,” and “Too Much Naga Porn.” Stories that don’t need a followup, but might get one if enough people request it.

To be fair to E or O, I haven't read it because I haven't had the time to, since I want to start at the beginning.

I feel bad. I have only read the first chapter of ecstasy or oblivion. I have been planing to come back to it when I have the time. I also don’t like reading more than one long story at a time. That’s because I some times get them confused or I forget where I left off. Shorter stories are different because I can finish them in the same sitting.

This is quite fair. I think having two concurrent projects that require one to keep up so they don't fall behind makes things harder. It's looking like finishing "Core's Opportunity" first while focusing on more one-off stories is what I should do first. Then after "Core's Opportunity" is done, I should take a look at E or O.

You're making complete sense. I realized today that part of the problem is I have two long stories going at once. I'm happy to do more one-offs and stuff in "Mingling Universes" where you can pick up whatever story you want and not have to worry about getting behind.

Quite honestly I'd love to see more of E/O but you made an excellent point, perhaps you could post a short synopsis of what you've written every month or so, just to keep readers aware of the progress

The other thing I wanted to mention is the mingling universes would be an excellent opportunity to start involving your readers. They could supply you with their own characters for inspiration and they would receive a new piece to help build their character. I've known a few people to take this idea and make a sort of role play space for it as well. The readers have occasionally come up with ideas the author used in the story, with permission of course.

The smartest thing to do, I think, is finish Core's story and then start taking a bit of time each month to continue E/O so that I can keep a bit of momentum on it and get it done sometime next year. I could post progress updates from time to time and then just post the whole book exclusive to Patreon for a half year or something awesome like that.

I really like your thinking here. Mingling Universes is very flexible and could support something like this. In fact, I love it for how adaptable it is. I'm going to take some time to think about your suggestion.
