A small post on game performance improvements (Patreon)

Hey guys!

Today I "lost" almost the whole day trying to solve a weird problem that I noticed in my games. Some of you may have noticed that when you are in a specific place in any of my games (for example, at the Solvalley bank, or at your home at HS Tutor) and click on the shortcut to the city map, the game does not makes a smooth transition, but it freezes for a few milliseconds.

In HS Tutor this problem is even more evident, since sometimes you have to wait 1 second for the city map to load! In addition that problem also occurs when you finish talking to a girl and return to the map of the location you are in. Well, apparently, it was all the fault of the function that shouldn't have anything to do with the performance.

I use this function to stop the fast foward automatically, which is very useful in the Android versions, but totally superfluous on the PC. By restricting this function to Android only, the transitions were much smoother in the PC version. HS Tutor in particular just got a lot better, now the maps open almost instantly and there are no more annoying little freezes everywhere.

I don't know if the problem is due to a mistake made by me, or if it is a Renpy bug. I already reported this to the Renpy creator, so if it is a Renpy bug, it will probably be fixed soon and all games that use this function will run better!

EDIT: now i already know the cause of the problem. When the function was called, Renpy created an auto-save of the game, which causes the game to freeze for a few milliseconds!

As I said before, every Friday I’m going to make a post for people to know that I’m alive. It's still Thursday here in my coronavirus-infested shithole, so Friday's post will only come in 24 hours.

In this post I'm going to detail what I'm doing for the next version of HS Tutor, and talk a little about Charlotte's storyline plans, which will be a little more elaborate than the others, with the presence of secondary characters (two new students and a photographer) and with more events to create more "flavor" before sex (yeah, I know that many of you prefer the game to go straight to the point, but even the scenes that are not about sex will always have an erotic content).
