I'm making a card game! (Patreon)

That's right, I'm making a god damn game. I’ve mentioned it here and there, but I thought I’d make an official post and give my patrons juicy behind-the-scenes details. It’s thanks to you guys that I’m able to take on projects like this so I owe a lot of this, as always, to you. Thank you.

Development has been a long journey, but it looks like I’m close to finishing this albatross of a project. I had zero interest in making a card game, but thanks to the persistence of my dad and my brother I eventually came around. The game started off as “Throw a bomb on a buddy” after my dad saw the Exploding Kittens Kickstarter and thought “I can do that.” It slowly morphed into a game called “Flying Piggies,” then “Flip Flop,” and eventually “Snollygoster.” Snollygoster is a real word that means “a shrewd, unprincipled person.” Once we landed on that title, I made the definition my guiding principle for the gameplay. Snollygoster allows for cooperation AND treachery. 

The game is almost complete at this point, but we’re still tweaking and testing. Testing and tweaking. Adding and removing cards. Generating and shelving ideas. Designing and scrapping art. Either way, it’s been one hell of a ride and it’s only the beginning. We’ll have to Kickstart this bad boy and that’s just as daunting if not more. My last Kickstarter damn near broke me, and this one may very well kill me. I may even end up eating a pepper or two, who knows!
