Familiar faces: the main guy Gong Yoo is one of the most famous Korean actors, internationally you may know him from his cameo in Squid Game, he's the guy who's recruiting people for the game in the first few episodes. The guy you already know, Ma Dongseok, he was also in The Eternals. The girl who plays Jinhee is Ahn Sohee, member of Wonder Girls, one of the biggest second gen girl groups along with SNSD & 2NE1.

- the movie is actually from 2016 - I really like the movie. I'm not saying it's the greatest ever, but it is one of those that you have to see. - wow, that's a big ass fire 😲. The couch caught fire because of just the sun? - "it's the humanity that sells it". Amen. - if the zombies are disoriented when it's dark (plus can't see you), I would surely have waited until nightfall before doing anything. - Who travels when they are that pregnant? - Yes, let's go into the dark tunnel. - GA JI MAAAAAAAA 😭😭😭

yop Gong Yoo and Ma dong suk probably 2 of the most famous korean actor internationally . this movie is great happy to rewatch it with you guys . the emotion is still the same for me even if i watch this movie already 3 or 4 time all death still got me .

Sascha

This was really fun, enjoyed your commentary a lot. This movie is amazing because like you said it focuses so much on the human aspect of the scenario rather than on horror and gore elements. I cared for so many characters which also makes every rewatch really hard especially with that ending. Still had a great time with your reaction. Btw I still havent watched Parasite so I'm looking forward to watch it along with you for the first time next week!

Yeah, The couch was a leather couch, maybe even fake leather and it just caught on fire because of the insane heat, at least that's what the owner of the apartment said 🙃

fabrice maire

yes Ma dong seok play in the Eternals .

you understood the film like me DG. Indeed, most of the time zombie films don't really attach any importance to story telling. in general they are happy to be the goriest, the most shocking or tell how an epidemic happens. This film highlights character development, the cause of the infection or the gore aspect is not important. we have affection for these characters or disgust for some. suddenly their deaths have more impact. whereas in most zombie films when characters die we don't care. This is what made Train to Busan the best zombie film of the last 10 or even 20 years.

Flower of Evil for the next drama 🤞

The next film about this is called peninsula, not the same but it’s in the same “universe “

In terms of modern Korean cinema, there are two movies that I think everyone should see: Parasite and Train to Busan. So this is perfect 😄 - For me this is actually a movie NIGHT. I just came home from the Kard concert, it's 2 am, I am wide awake and ready for some zombies on trains - This movie is more of a thriller than horror anyway. It's very tense but I don't find it particularly scary. - Classic. The father who is too busy with work to properly look after his kid. - Jin-hee sitting down next to probably the only guy in that class who isn't interested in her - Hard boiled eggs. I see it's not just a tradition on German trains. - Su-an is one of my favourite child characters in general. She's very perceptive. - And we have the trope of the one crazy guy who knows the truth but nobody pays any attention to him. - That scene of the first train zombie awakening is iconic! - Yeah, these are some of the most dangerous zombies I've ever seen. Not only do they run fast but the bite works in mere seconds. No opportunity for some fuckwit to hide his wound from the group like in some other zombie fiction. - The granny's death is so effective. No visuals. Just the phone call. And yet we know exactly what's happening. And it hits. - Leave it to children to drop the harshest truth bombs. - Zombie soldiers! Soldier zombies? - Yes, the character moments really make this one stand out among other zombie movies. - Just be glad this train doesn't have motion sensors that open the doors for you. - The fact that one hour just flew by speaks to the amazing pacing of this movie. - Second time watching, Sang-hwa's death still gets me. - Great character analysis from your side. I don't really have anything to add. - What a fucking birthday, huh - „Ex-wife“ That's not really correct, he actually has her saved as „Su-an's mom“ - Oh my god, I'm just realising the symbolism of Seok-woo trying to wash the blood from his hands after learning that his company's involvement in that biotech firm might be the very reason for the zombie outbreak. - Of fucking course the COO and train attendant are still alive. - COO is officially the worst character in any Korean media I've seen. And we just got done with Strangers from Hell. - The only zombie movie that has ever made me cry. And it does not get easier on the second watch. Not a perfect movie but easily the best zombie movie I've seen. Among all the over the top action, zombie avalanches and such, Train to Busan is very much driven by its characters. And how quickly it gets you attached to them. I haven't seen the sequel and I don't plan to. This movie stands on its own. I don't need more.

does anyone else see and hear changbin in the husband of the pregnant woman? (I'm sorry, I'm very bad with names) every time he opens his mouth it's sth changbin would say, no?🙈

I really enjoy your reactions and commentary. No doubt I would enjoy it on Movie Night too! You are always super relatable. I love Train to Busan and I feel the human aspect of the movie shines through a lot. I'm glad to know that you enjoyed it!! Will look forward to Parasite :)

Star Dust

I watched this for the first time with my discord buddies. I'm looking forward to watching it again with you! But, it will probably be at least another day.

If you want to stay with zombies a little longer, Dreamcatcher (Siyeon and Dami) did an OST for the zombie series "Dark Hole". The song is called "Shadow". It has 2 different versions. Both versions are great. Both versions have mv's that show footage from the series, which are interesting but also distract you from the great songs.

I watched this for the first time with you! I've known about this movie for a long time but I just never got around to watching it. Damn I hate that CEO guy. The best zombie stories are always about the people and humanity and the zombies are just the background. Humans are the real villains and the CEO personified that perfectly. The baseball coach at 20:09 in your reaction is the publisher from it's okay to not be okay! Yes, the "hulk" was in the eternals. I believe his English name is Don Lee Gong Yoo was really good in this! I tried watching Goblin in which he's the main character but the first episode was a little slow and I didn't really understand what the show was going to be about. I'll probably give it another chance as I really liked him. I've only seen him as a cameo in another popular Korean show on netflix but I don't think you've seen it so I won't mention the name :) I guess the fact that there's a sequel raises questions but if you just ignore the fact that they made a cash grab sequel and just consider this film I didn't think they needed to show anything else at the end. How the zombie infection started isn't important and they hinted that Gong Yoo's company had something to do with it. The pregnant lady and his daughter safely arrived at the Busan Perimeter. Whether you choose to believe that her mother is still alive or not is up to your own interpretation. I like that the director doesn't answer that question. In my opinion they are family now and the lady will take care of both children and the daughter will help take care of the baby like an older sister. I'm glad you finally got me to sit down and watch this. Loved the reaction as always and I'm very much looking forward to Parasite next week. That one I saw in theaters.

There is a great K-Drama series about zombies. Set in 16th century Korea called Kingdom. It was on Netflix last I looked. It had a sequel movie called Kingdom: Ashin of the North. But it wasn't as well written as the series was, so I never finished it. Also, in remembrance of Kim Jin-hee (Sohee). Maybe do a Wonder Girls reaction? Unfortunately, the only song of theirs I know is Nobody. It features JYP making embarrassing himself, though.

This is soooo good!! If you liked this kind of show, I'd like to recommend watching ALL OF US ARE DEAD 🙏 such a good show as well! 💚 Korea really knows how to make great zombie shows 💯👌
