- Ive wouldn't work just because they are the sisters of WJSN and WJSN were pretty much a lock for this show when WJSN Chocome made their appearance on M Countdown (after more than a year of Starship groups not appearing due to a feud between MNet and Starship). This is also why Ive wasn't in the audience for this round despite being the biggest monster rookies around right now. - Kep1er pretty much got it from all sides when it was announced, because they are an MNet group and will only be around for a shorter amount of time before they return to their original companies. There were fans of the groups that didn't want them and those that weren't fans that didn't want them. I do think it was a poor choice on MNet's part to cast them, but I don't want to blame the girls for accepting. I do hope they rise it and MNet quits making them an easy target (like they did with this episode and how they edited Kep1er). - So the main way of performing before fans is on Music Shows, but due to COVID, music shows haven't had live audiences for a while. They probably haven't had many chances for festival shows either. I'm guessing they haven't had any in-person fansigns either, even though those are starting to come back. - Week 2 of MNet being so focused on Kep1er being rookies that they don't mention that Yujin has been in the business for longer than everyone except Hyolyn and Viviz. - I try to avoid youtube channels and such that focus on the drama with K-Pop personally. I don't think it serves much to pay attention to that. - I feel Kep1er got overworked with their practices, which probably hurt them in the end and might explain why they were making mistakes in their practices the day of. - If you ever want to check out Rollin' By Brave Girls, I suggest checking out the video that went viral and caused them to blow up, which is this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfHWIqJkEf4 - Man, Brave Girls really hit the mark on power with that intro and middle section. - There is no crowd sounds because the crowds aren't allowed to shout. It is part of the conditions of allowing performances with a live audience.

Daniel Goland

It's silly, to eliminate the essence of having a crowd by not allowing them to shout and be vocal, I mean if they test negative for covid, that should be enough to allow them to be... You know, actual fans. But it is what it is, I guess. That's the rules so thanks for explaining that!

- Sadly WJSN is indeed stuck in the middle. They have had some success, but it is far behind Gfriend and Sistar. Even their little sisters Ive have more wins than them. As one of my favorite groups, I really hope they can blow up from this, especially since they are getting close to the 7-year mark and with Ive doing so well, Starship might not bother to give them attention otherwise. - As You Wish hits #1 every year because, in Korea, people like to start out the new year by hearing a song that will determine how their year will go. So a hopeful song that will make their year as they wish it to be is a great place to start. - Even before it was pointed out, I noticed the hourglass malfunction. I was so focused on the red portion of it that was sitting on the ground and hoping that no one tripped because of it. That said, Dayoung almost tripped right before the dance break. Thankfully she recovered. Seola also got messed up because of it and ran into Yeonjung, and then Seola went easy on her part at the end of the dance break because she was afraid of tripping herself. - That is Yeoreum with the facial expressions during the dance break. She is one of the stronger dancers in this current lineup. Sadly their original dancer line was made up of the Chinese members and Bona, all of whom are missing here. - From the comments I saw, a lot of people didn't realize what happened with the hourglass. - I feel bad for Eunseo, Seola, and Exy because Eunseo had the pressure of missing out and then Seola probably felt it was her fault that the hourglass broke since she was the last member to touch it before it broke. Then of course, as the leader, Exy has to put all of that burden on her shoulders. - Love the fact that they are bringing up the Eunseo/SinB friendship since I did mention it last week after the whole fake SinB vs WJSN drama. Also, I believe I mentioned last previously, that Eunseo is one of the members who is the most extra besides Dayoung. - The captions here for the Eunseo/SinB part don't include the part where it said "Save SinB" as Eunseo was dragging her past Kep1er. - Honestly, I think the teams should have picked someone as above them just for the goodwill since worst case you are only losing a few hundred points from doing so, but since people have to vote for two teams, they might vote for the team that helped their favorite team. - Kep1er made their debut within a day of WJSN Chocome having their comeback so appeared on music shows together. I know Yujin of Kep1er and Dayoung of WJSN did tik tok videos together of each other their songs. - I agree that Gfriend did a better transition between the two songs compared to Brave Girls. - That resting bitch face of SinB is going to continue to get her in trouble this entire season I think. - Again, I feel bad for Kep1er because the comments I saw raked them over the coals for their reasoning for picking another group, but no other group got that. - While I know they were allowed to not pick someone as above in at least the 3rd round for Queendom 1, I wonder if the producers pushed them more to not actually pick someone for the drama. - I'm surprised Kep1er didn't capture more of the global vote since when it comes to things involving global views (including Youtube views and Twitter retweets) they have been doing much better than every other group. - Loona's performance was phenomenal, but musically, I prefer the original version of PTT. I can't imagine the difficulty that came with preparing for this since they practiced one version but probably had to make some changes since they are using the round 2 stage here and not the round 1 stage. They then only had 1 day to practice the final version while also practicing their cover song at the same time. - Loved all the dance solos, but Olivia Hye's hairpin one was the favorite - Kep1er performing WJSN's Happy could have been interesting. It certainly could fit their vibe. - Kep1er and Brave Girls aren't really a good fit for covering each other. I feel them not getting picked by the others will hurt them both. - I find it funny they are going with Taeyeon's song "Ending Credits" for the end credits song. - The post-credit scene is such a tease. I can't wait for the extra scenes to drop on Youtube this week.

My placements for these performances 1st - WJSN - A very fitting showing to close out the show. Despite the difficulties, they did an absolutely amazing job here. As always, I'm biased so there was a good chance I would put WJSN on top no matter what. 2nd - Loona - Again, absolutely amazing despite having difficulties going in. Even though WJSN are my favorites, I was pretty close to giving Loona the first place spot, but like I mentioned I prefer the original PTT sound over this version. 3rd - Viviz - A very emotional performance and all-around did a great job, but not quite the same level as WJSN and Loona. 4th - Hyolyn - Killed it. Really my only complaint is that I don't really like "Touch My Body" compared to some other Sistar and Hyolyn songs so it makes it harder for me to get into it. 5th - Kep1er - Did their best, despite seeming to be the only group without any creative control. Just wasn't as memorable as the other performances 6th - Brave Girls - Loved the intro, like "Touch My Body", "Chi Ma Ba Ram" is not a song I could really get into it, and I wish "Rollin" wasn't tacked on at the end because it might the whole performance a little more disjointed. I certainly suggest also checking out the full cam performances on Youtube as well to see what the full stages look like.

Dardove

It is my understanding that it is the Korean government requiring it. I'm sure MNet would love to have actual audience sounds (which is why they went with the prerecorded cheers for when the groups came on stage).

Marcel Wannieck

FYI, the way you pronounce WJSN is "Wu-ju So-nyeo" So, the thing about Kep1er's MVSK is, it's even further away from Brave Girls's usual style than Wa Da Da. At least it'll be interesting to see what they come up with. On the other hand, I could easily see Kep1er cover Brave Girls songs like Thank You, High Heels, Deepened or others. As for my personal rankings of the first round: 6th: Brave Girls - I'll have to agree with you here. They are among the strongest vocalists on the show but are a bit lacking in the dance performance aspect. They put on a great show, had a lot of fun on stage but the choreography didn't wow me. Add to that that I'm slowly starting to get sick of Rollin. I understand why they had to include it but I hope they do something different next. IMO, their true strengths lie in the synthwave/disco retro sound like We Ride, After We Ride and Thank You. It'd be awesome to see them lie into that side in the next rounds. 5th: Kep1er - They are at a disadvantage here. Because they only just debuted, they only have that one title track. And as much as I appreciate this remix, I'm just not the biggest fan of Wa Da Da in general. They did great but the others were just better. Also, MVSK is the superior Kep1er song. 4th: Loona - Hurts to put them this low. Loona is generally my favourite group in this competition. But half of this performance of PTT feels like a standard performance of this song that I've seen many times before. There is that other half where they do things differently and I love that they extended the song. Those things definitely elevated this performance for me. And I do find this more interesting than what Kep1er did with Wa Da Da. But overall this doesn't feel like a proper epic Queendom performance yet. However, I have no doubts that they will absolutely tear it up in the coming rounds. 3rd: Hyolyn - Now THAT'S what I call a Queendom performance. Grand scale, 500 million dancers on stage and a proper festival vibe. Only thing is, I don't feel particularly connected to the song. I haven't listened to anything by Hyolyn or Sistar yet and only knew the chorus of Touch my Body going into this. And these bright summer songs aren't really my favourite in Kpop. Still, she killed it and really showed what 12 years of experience looks like. 2nd: Viviz - They cheated. They used Time for the Moon Night. That's my favourite Gfriend song. So of course I'm going to put them this high. And they showed that, even with only half of the original members, Viviz can still create that magic that Gfriend was known for. Almost brings me to tears with how good their songs were and how good this performance was. I miss Gfriend. I really do. 1st: WJSN - OH MY FUCKING GOD. THIS IS EVERYTHING A QUEENDOM PERFORMANCE IS SUPPOSED TO BE. Excuse me, I will now stop yelling. But honestly, this was absolutely perfect. I didn't even notice that anything went wrong on first watch. They brought all of their signature cosmic magic to the stage and then some. It was so epic and it really felt like the grand finale of a concert. And the crazy thing is, As You Wish is not even their best song IMO. They still have a few tricks up their sleeves. The two groups I'm rooting for the most are Loona and WJSN. I just want one of them to win and the other one to come in second. I'd be a very happy man if that happened.

KyrainMcLeod

It's hard to fathom, but due to the strict quaratine laws in South Korea there haven't been any concerts with audience and only very limited fan meets. Many of the younger groups, I think even itzy and aespa? (not sure though) never performed in front of their fans.

Dardove

Given that Itzy made their debut in early 2019, they would have had an audience for music shows and fan meets at the very start. But aespa probably hasn't.

tracisr

Itzy finally had their very first in person fan meeting like 2 days ago! Crazy how the world has changed.

tracisr

My rankings for this round are 1. Hyolyn because obviously 2. WJSN because I had never heard that song before but I've bee listening to it since the performance 3. Kep1er because for their first time in front of audience and all the troubles and being rookies they really killed it and brought the energy 4. Brave Girls they honestly are tied for 3rd in my heart and should definitely be higher in the rakings bc they freaking brought it. The party energy was on Hyolyn level and those vocals were amazing 5. Loona and it wasn't really their fault they had to perform on what seemed like a smaller stage with only one level so it just seemed like not as big of a performance and didn't stand out like the others but they really did kill it and they are who I am rooting for to win 6. ViviZ it was moving but a little boring im sorry. I watched the performances before watching the actual episode and I was hyper focused on WJSN trying to see what went wrong and first watch I couldn't tell they had messed up. They still dd so good. It was only second watch I saw the hourglass fall and the sand everywhere and I saw her slip 😫. Omg my heart hurt for them the way they were so sad I hope they watch it back and see how good it still was despite the setbacks. I'm so excited for the covers week! Loona will be happy to know every single group wanted to cover their songs! Mnet evil editing at it again. I wonder if moving forward if they will go back to the old rule of having to pick a group above since no one but Kep1er picked one 😅! Can't wait for the next episode! Daniel coming in clutch with the comment recovery Brave Girls are your new Park Bom 😅 except instead of not being voted out of respect this time is out of being forgotten 😬

tracisr

It's so amazing how different people's opinions on their favorites are! You are so in love with Kim Lip from Loona you stop on her every time and I fully understand why 🤣🤣

fabrice maire

this year the scale is huge and the production is better like in kingdom .so i think the girls can bring any type of props , use many back -up dancer and big set .

fabrice maire

honestly i watch almost all survival show since 2010 and even if during the season one that was pretty easy to know who's the top 3 MAMAMOO/ OH MY GIRL / GIDLE here it's more difficult . so far all group did a great job no bad performance , no mistake . so to rank the first round the fandom of each group is very important to me the winner at the end could be the most popular group .

fabrice maire

each performance bring something special VIVIZ the emotional performance .as a student during this era i know how they're song ROUGH means for many korean student . HYOLIN bring the sexiness and the summer vibe on a show with her fire vocal , KEP1ER bring energy , synchronisation and beauty . BRAVE GIRLS are the most impressive like they said nobody imagine them dance like that .they're set and performance was full of surprise they know how work that show . WJSN solid performance to me top 3 group this season . LOONA they're performance look like the OH MY GIRL perfromance on DESTINY . great vibe . hard to chose a winner but the final ranking is close with my prediction HYOLIN /VIVIZ /WJSN top 3 and KEP1ER AS outsider . brave girl do great but not a surprise to se tham rank 5 for LOONA wait and see .

fabrice maire

LOL VIVIZ got same kind of review tan Oh MY GIRL in season 2 or than GIDLE .but it's a good point because like i know them . they got so many card on they're pocket . i will be not surprise if they dance blindfold next time to mindfuck the other group and put some pression on them /

fabrice maire

DG i got you for KEP1ER many people didn't understand why they're in that show when obviously then don't need to be on and they got only 1 song to show . they're debut was successful . many PEOPLE like me will prefere se group like DREAMCATCHER / FROMIS 9 / WEKI MEKI or WEEEKLY . group who's neec more visibility on mainstream chanel .i love KEP1ER but like IVE they did a fantastic debut no need to lose they're time here .

fabrice maire

i will support KEP1ER . i need to chose one group . but i will be ok if any other group win . they got all enough talent for that ;

fabrice maire

yes KEP1ER and many rookie group never performe in front of real audience . and yes KEP1ER win lot of trophies on music show but that was with only some journaslit and a very little audience . maybe 10 or 15 peoples .

Dardove

Weki Meki was certainly on my dream cast for Queendom, but there was probably almost no chance for them getting picked. Would have been great to have a WJMK reunion and maybe see WM and WJSN cover each other so Exy and Yoojung could do each other's raps. And obviously, Dreamcatcher was my top pick besides WJSN.

fabrice maire

final thing about KEP1ER i's simple . yes MNET probably want to push them and yes they got a easy way but it's not they're fault , we can't blame them for that , the only thing they can do about that , like they said is to work hard and prove to they're haters than they deserve to be here not only because they're MNET daughter but also because they're great .

fabrice maire

for BRAVE GIRLS they're choréo are simple on purpose ,very easy to learn for they're fans . but because of that many people didn't know if they can dance for real like all other amazing kpop group .but they got great vocals and bright energy they're happy virus for many people . but in this performance they prove than if they want they can be very creative and good to dominate the stage . the most surprising performance of the first 1round ;

fabrice maire

for WJSN nobody realise than they're hourglass was broken that how professional the're .we didn't notice that .so that was a great performance AS YOU WISH is my favorite song from them .

fabrice maire

the funny thing we all group chosing VIVIZ to be below them is than SINB is like SOYEON .and VIVIZ in that aspect are like (G)IDLE they're great and they know that. so they maybe sleep on the first round thinking than that could be an easy task. now they know than the competiton is hard and all group is good . so like SOYEON SINB will comeback stronger than ever to bit they're neck .

crispy chicken

Since you were asking, Queendom on sundays would have my preference :) And if you're looking for new ideas, I thought it would be cool if you did reactions to the original songs used in Queendom. Also I'd like to give a few shoutouts: 1. Kep1er's Yujin. Like Dardove already pointed out is that she already debuted in 2015 with CLC: an awesome, successful girlgroup that you definitely should check out. Unfortunately their company doesn't know how to manage a successful girlgroup and are leaving them to dry out (it's mind-blowing to me). So Yujin already had to deal with that. But then, while still being a member of CLC, she appeared as a contestant on Girl's Planet 999. A show where only the final members would get to debut (as Kep1er). Imagine what that must have been like for her: she first trained for 4+ years, then finally got to debut in CLC, then was a successful, hardworking idol for over 5 years, only to be thrown away basically. And instead of being demoralized, angry, or tired of the entire K-pop industry, or just accepted it and perseu a non K-pop related career (all would be very understandable), to make the decision to try it all over again has my deepest respect. And she didn't just choose to do auditions, she chose a competition show, which meant competing with rookies on tv. Wouldn't that feel degrading/shameful in a way? And wouldn't she had everything to lose (her reputation, etc) and only a very slim chance of success to gain? Yet she stayed so humble and positive. And now in Queendom she still remains so humble and respectful like a junior, while technically being a senior. 2. Kep1er's Mashiro and Hikaru for their Korean. I don't know if they've had Korean lessons prior to GP999, but now, 8 months later, they are already confident and fluent enough to voice their opinions on a global show.

Chad Williams

feel bad for brave girls they obviously arent in the same position as the other groups their training and company isnt as top tier as the others here im pulling for kep1er since i watched them struggle to debut for months in gp999 constantly having to perform without knowing if they were going to get eliminated the next week or not xiaoting the chinese kep1er member yujin former clc member and Dayeon the blonde haired one sitting in the middle is my ultimate fav in kep1er but love them all obviously

Valryx

I agree about Yujin, to audition for a survival show trying to prove yourself after being an idol for so many years, i don't think people with an ego can do that. Then she did prove herself in GP 999. Mashiro did train with Itzy for years in JYP, this was also introduced in GP 999, so her Korean was already fluent. There is a running joke in Kep1er she forgot to speak Japanese. Hikaru however did improve her Korean in GP 999 until now, it was mentioned several times how fast she improved, i think she works very hard at it.

Valryx

I mainly follow you for Queendom. Personally i don't care when you react to it but id like it if you at least react to queendom 2 once a week. it's pretty unique reaction if you do it that way also for your future patreons to see. Also less likely for you to get spoiled. The Kep1er thing is strange to me. The stage/props setup felt cheapened out on. 10 dancers appeared more then halfway through the song wave some flags. Just compare these things to the other stages and it's a massive difference in resources. Their choreogrpaher is very talented, i believe did some produce 101 stages too, and their company used to manage IZONE, so they must have some talent/connections. I wonder how much control the girls really had over that, rookies typically don't have much say in a company. I wonder what is going on, starting to think this was intentional. What the girls did have control over was the execution of their performance, i found that the most impressive of all, singing stable and dancing with that much power. They did perform for live audience before, they had an open concert in Girls planet 999, granted the people were in cars but it's an audience. And in GP 999 about 99 girls participated and watched each other perform + master judges, which is an audience. The narrative seems to be rookies struggling, not used to a big stage, though the final stage in GP 999 had a big stage too with steps, They didn't seem to get a lot of time to practice on it in Queendom. I think it's actually possible Mnet/swing/wake one didn't want them to win first round at least, making sure by taking away what the girls had no control over. Possibly to take away some of the critisism at least initially. Lower people expectations. But i do also think they want them to get a shot at winning this, so i suspect the next round the company will put more effort in. Many people don't want them in the Queendom for various reasons (other groups deserve it more, only 2.5 year contract, possible Mnet favoritism, they are already succesfull, they are to new, ...) You can't blame the girls for being glad getting that opportunity to show their skills. Sure you can blame their company for putting the girls in there, but i think it's important to seperate the two and realise we don't really know what goes on behind the scenes. Unfortunately there are people that can't get over that feeling they shouldn't be in there and find it hard to like them or give them a chance.

KyrainMcLeod

Sunday video would be great. Nice chill evening before the weeks starts again. Also, I really disliked the tactical voting, not giving points and "downvoting" your closest rivals. Remember when Mamamoos Moonbyul voted for a different vocalist than Hwasa? I think the "cut above" votes should be mandatory again.

Dardove

So today they dropped practice videos for the round 1 performances. One noteworthy one is the Loona one since it shows what they originally intended to do with the round 1 stage, including the upper area. Really disappointed we didn't get to see this version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9GE9RF6pk0

Dardove

So this week we got one Queen's Land extra scenes video, along with 6 reaction videos where the groups react to their round 1 performances. Plenty of explanations of what they were going for and just extra details of things that happened. A lot of the audience is fellow performers, as well as subordinates. They are respectful and quiet to hear and observe better. When watching awards shows, if fellow performers are shown they tend to be sitting quietly or dancing, rather than screaming like the fans in the rest of the crowd. Also, they are all wearing masks, have you tried yelling and screaming into a mask for a prolonged period of time? lol I suspect if they bring fans back in to watch there will be more noise. Although seeing as this is post covid, I'm not sure how things are going to go.

Kirsten Reinhard

WJSN has an English name - Cosmic Girls. (Similar to SNSD being Girls Generation)

Daniel Goland

I know they're wearing masks therefore they can't be vocal but my thought was, they were tested for covid (I presume) so why not let them be without masks and be the fans that they're supposed to be hehe, but rules are the rules so I understand, I guess :)
