P48 EP12

- I only really have two wishes for the next survival show: male contestants and something that's not from the Produce series. I am out-Produced at this point 😅 - I think the other commenters already went into detail about the rigging and how it was found out so I'm not gonna repeat anything here. Just one thing I want to add: the rigging scandal is one of the main reasons why Produce rebranded to the Planet series in Korea (Girls Planet 999 is essentially Produce season 5 and Boys Planet is season 6). And Girls Planet wasn't that successful because people didn't really trust Mnet at that point. Even though Mnet did get some independent external people to monitor the voting and make sure that everything is legit. It took until Boys Planet for that trust (and viewership) to somewhat return. - IOI and Wanna One in the audience! Don't memorise those Boys' faces too well, otherwise you'll spoil yourself for whenever you get around to Produce 101 Season 2 😃 - I think every new kpop fan has made the “eye zone” mistake at least once 😄 - Well, Kang Daniel winning season 2 shouldn't be all that surprising, considering he is, you know, KANG DANIEL! - Oh hey, Bumzu! He produces most Seventeen songs together with Woozi. - Break Dance for center! - Ok but why do they put THIS much emphasis on the center position? It's really not THAT important, is it? - Btw, the subtitles here use a very literal translation of the Korean title of the song. The official English title is just “We Together”. - Very nice performance. - I would say that they're showing 11th to 14th place here to do a bit of voting manipulation but they directly rigged them anyway so it doesn't really matter I suppose 🙃 - The vocals are definitely mixed very low in that second song. - I think I like this one even more than the first one. - Not even debuted yet and they're already going to Japan 💪🏻 - Now it's the Koreans who have to take out their little notes 😄 - The only thing that bothers me about this performance in Japan is the complete lack of a light production. Just the static bright lights of this exhibition hall. - Shit, seeing Miru cry in the last song made me really sad that she didn't make it into IZ*ONE. - “Only the results of National Producer's votes count” Well that was a fucking lie. - 100% agreed. You don't have to win on shows like this to get another chance at the idol life. If you've read my update comments about the eliminated trainees then you know that many of them went on to debut in other groups or as solo artists. And since you mention Boys Planet, there are even more groups that came from that show than the ones you mentioned. There's TIOT, AMPERS&ONE, TOZ and several solo debuts like Jay Chang, Onlee (Lee Seunghwan) and LE'V (Wang Zihao), just to name a few examples. - He's just listing off their names, why is that taking so long 😭 - I can only imagine how painful this must have been during the live broadcast at normal speed. - You're misunderstanding. Places 5 and 6 weren't directly exchanged with 13 and 14. Rather, the ones that WOULD have been in 5 and 6 (Kaeun and Chowon) were moved down out of the top 12 and everyone else moved up by two spots. The ones that wouldn't have made it without rigging are Kim Minju and Lee Chaeyeon. - Obviously I knew Jo Yuri already (she's an AMAZING soloist today) so to see those first episodes where she was ranked F was crazy. - Yeah, they made Chaeyeon suffer for this. - Wonyoung receiving the best birthday present possible. - And this is why I'm so fucking conflicted about the rigging thing. Of course, rigging votes is not okay but without it, Chaeyeon would not have made it and that doesn't feel right either... This show was wild. Infuriating editing at many points but really cool to see how so many idols I know have started off.

I didn't really have much time last week so this is coming a bit late (went to two Billlie concerts and one The Midnight concert. I met Billlie's Tsuki in person. Twice. I am dead). As for the eight candidates who narrowly missed the IZ*ONE lineup: #13: Han Chowon made her debut in June 2021 as one of the second main vocal of LIGHTSUM, together with Kim Nayoung and Lee Yujeong. I already linked you their debut and first comeback, so here's their second comeback Alive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SqwzA0FVTU And the third comeback is Honey or Spice which you've already seen. Yeah, despite this group already having been around for three years now, Cube is barely giving them anything to do. When Sangah went on Queendom Puzzle, a year had already passed since the Alive comeback. And it doesn't seem like there are any active plans for more releases, even though it's already been nine months since the last one. Man, shit really sucks for Chowon. First she gets rigged out of IZ*ONE and when she finally does debut, it's under prime Cube management 🙃 #14: Lee Gaeun had already been a member of After School going into PD48 but their last activity as a group was several years before this show and nothing else happened after it either. Gaeun left Pledis in July 2019 and released a solo song called Remember You: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7oOpkYZvK4 But it doesn't seem like she continued to pursue a career in music. She made her acting debut in the drama High Class in 2021. And her Youtube channel is mostly about ASMR-style content today: https://www.youtube.com/@gaeunday Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/by.gaeun #15: Miyazaki Miho returned to AKB48 until her graduation in April 2022. She posts regularly on her Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@myaochannel Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/myaostagram_380 #16: Takahashi Juri returned to AKB48 until her graduation in May 2019. After which she went to Korea, signed a contract with Woolim Entertainment and debuted in August 2019 together with Kim Suyun and Kim Sohee in Rocket Punch. Which gives me an excuse to plug my favourite title track, Chiquita: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_2xEKsvkLo However, just under two months ago, Juri announced that she would be leaving Rocket Punch to start her own Kpop/K-beauty consulting company. I'm not entirely sure what that entails tbh but there's a website: https://www.ui-jr.com Meanwhile Rocket Punch continues with 5 members. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/irujuri_1oo3 #17: Takeuchi Miyu returned to AKB48 until her graduation in May 2019. She went to Korea and signed a contract with Mystic Story, starting to train as part of Mystic Rookies, the group that would eventually debut as Billlie (heh, I just went to their concerts). However, Miyu herself was not actually a candidate for the group debut, rather training to go solo. She left Mystic Story in May 2021 to focus on her Youtube channel and song covers. At the end of last year she also released her first original song called Memoirs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZwDoc5eL34 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/miyusanno.official #18: Shitao Miu returned to AKB48 and is still active there. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/miumiu1343 #19: Park Haeyoon made her debut in January 2019 as one of the main vocalists of Cherry Bullet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KdWuQyIEYk After the group's first comeback, three members left, including the original leader Mirae (later known as Ella of PIXY). Haeyoon was then promoted to be the new leader of Cherry Bullet. Sadly, FNC has been pretty crap at promoting them, seemingly preferring to send the members to survival shows instead of giving them comebacks. Over the last three years, they only got two comebacks, whilst Bora and other members competed on no less than three separate survival shows. Their final comeback was the one you reacted to on Youtube, POW! And about a year after that, FNC announced Cherry Bullet's disbandment. Honestly, did they even TRY with this group? At least I was lucky enough to see them live on three separate occasions. Though curiously, they didn't add POW to their setlist at the last show, which was over half a year after the song's release. They just did a shortened version of the same setlist I saw them with the previous two times. I'm not sure what Haeyoon is planning to do from now. She left FNC but afaik hasn't announced any concrete future plans. For now she's doing song covers on her Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@h.yoooni Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/h.yoooni #20: Shiroma Miru returned to NMB48 until her graduation in August 2021. Until then she also got the center position in various songs, like Tokonoma Seiza Musume, just to name one example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4FwKFk658c After her time in NMB she started to gear up for a career as a soloist and released her solo debut Shine Bright in July 2022. This is also the song she performed as her introduction performance on Queendom Puzzle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5p2UlRBNPM So far she has released two EPs and is also active in modeling and a few other things. To clarify : while we know what was the actual ranking of both Kaeun and Chowon, Mnet manipulated the number of votes AND thus the rankings. It was proven in court that the total votes were fabricated for all the girls. The actual numbers were not made public. As such, we don't know who was rigged in, and never will. The order in which the girls were called was probably just to add a little bit of drama. We'll never even know if Wonyoung was actually supposed to be the center. In the end, the whole final episode was manufactured by Mnet from start to finish. It's very unlikely that Yujin and Nako are the ones who were rigged in.
