Here are the official minutes from the Monthly Meeting last night.

WELCOME - 10:00PM to 10:10(ISH)PM

At the welcome portion of the night, everyone came together to hang and chat about what our favorite Defunctland episodes were.  Episodes mentioned included:

  • "The History of Coney Island"
  • "The Demolition of Six Flags Astroworld"
  • "The War for Disney's America"
  • "The Craziest Party Walt Disney Ever Threw"
  • "A Roundabout History of the Ferris Wheel"
  • "The History of Kongfrontation"
  • "The History of Disney's Worst Attraction Ever, Superstar Limo"
  • "Walt Disney's City of the Future, E.P.C.O.T."
  • "The History of the Worst SeaWorld Ride, Submarine Quest"
  • "The History of McDonald's Mac Tonight"
  • “The Handwich Episode”

and for DefunctTV:

  •  "The History of Welcome to Pooh Corner"
  • "The History of Bear in the Big Blue House"
  •  and of course The Jim Henson series and "The Final Jim Henson Hour"

"A DREAM ARRIVES" PREVIEW - 10:10(ISH)PM to 10:15(ISH)PM

After the welcome segment, Kevin played a new selection from the Orchestral score of the upcoming Season 3 Intermission episode.  Although Kevin has shared selections from the upcoming episode previously (including “Bossa for Strings”, “Communicore”, “Spaceship Earth” and “World of Motion”) this was the first time everyone got to hear the full Orchestra recording of the music.  The song previewed was “A Dream Arrives” and Kevin explained that it is the final song of the planned experimental, musical episode.  Reviews of the track were very positive with many praises and appropriate dancing gifs posted in the chat. A link to the file has been attached if you would like to listen.

AKA - 10:15(ISH)PM to 10:25PM

Then someone mentioned Cop Rock so Kevin requested everyone be muted. This kicked off the Ask Kevin Anything section of the night, in which, for the first question, John asked "What it was like to hear 'A Dream Arrives' at the recording with the full Orchestra?"  Kevin said he and composer Jameson Hornbeck Wall both cried and got emotional when the strings kick in and that it was the first piece recorded at the beginning of a long day.  Kevin mentioned that there will be 17 tracks for the upcoming episode.

The next question during AKA was by Parzival who asked “Is Kevin always miserable?” which was not necessarily asked of Kevin but more the general chat, who for the most part answered, “yes” and blamed the aforementioned mentioning of “Cop Rock”.

The next question was from TMonsta “Would you ever accept ad money or work with Disney or do you think it would be a conflict of interest as a theme park documentarian?” to which Kevin gave an extensive and detailed reply, which for the most part seemed to be, it depends on how much money and if he can still criticize Monsanto. Kevin also reflected on Disney’s current actions as a company and how it treats its employees as disposable at certain points of economic cycles.

Dan asked, “Is there anything that you would like to make a video about, but can't due to not being able to find enough information on it?” To this, Kevin answered the “Arr-cade”, an arcade located at Deck 11 of the Disney Dream Cruise ship that was replaced by a Wreck-It-Ralph restaurant. Kevin noted the irony of an arcade being replaced by a Wreck-It-Ralph restaurant.

Parzival asked, “Favorite place to grab a drink in Orlando?” Kevin’s reply was “with friends” and that he was lonely at present as he had just moved (to within earshot of Epcot fireworks) and that moving a couch by yourself is difficult.

Unwatcher asked, “Would you consider doing a Las Vegas 90’s video?” Kevin said he would consider it, but if he was going to do a Vegas video he wanted to do something big.

Parzival asked, “Favorite resort to stay for a weekend in either Disney or Universal?” Kevin asked if such a choice was budget dependant. We decided “No” so he determined Wilderness Lodge

Fable asked, “When is the podcast coming back?” to which Kevin replied, “Never. Even longer because you asked.” which was probably a joke but probably also true. This also ended our AKA segment.

MERCH PURCH - 10:25PM to 10:35PM

Next, we took a look at some fun eBay listings related to Defunctland during Merch Purch. The segment began with an eBay listing parody featuring “Walt Disney Frozen” and featured Walt Disney’s head in a cryotube for sale at $17.99. Coincidentally, Kevin noted that the location of the item was his hometown in Kansas.  We then took a look at some real eBay listings.

and the last one we got to was from Big Beautiful Disney

EPCOT APPRECIATION - 10:35PM to 10:45PM

After that, we moved on in the meeting to EPCOT Appreciation.  For the most part, we had a general discussion about Epcot, its World Showcase, Spaceship Earth, Ellen’s Energy  Adventure, Future World, Horizons, The Land, the Monorail, and more, all while watching various clips from this 1984 WDW Video Brochure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58y8RCT-a10 It was good to see Dreamfinder and Figment, although someone noted that Figment in the video was actually performed by a puppeteer with a fake arm holding the puppet. This piece of trivia was deemed false.

FOOD ROCKS JUKEBOX - 10:45PM to 10:59PM

We concluded the night with the Food Rocks Jukebox where we used polls to pick which Food Rocks songs we should watch music videos for.   The videos were mixed from the following for video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bzucLY-Ues, audio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JSWOIj5d7w , plus some winamp visualizations overlaid. Through slightly manipulated voting, we experienced “Good Nutrition” by the Peach Boys, “Vegetables are Good for You” by Neil Moussaka, “Always Read the Wrapper” by Tone Loc’s Fūd Wrapper, “Every Bite You Take” by Refrigerator Police, "Tutti Frutti" by Richard, “High Fiber” from Pita Gabriel, and for the finale, the “Bohemian Rhapsody” parody. “Choose Before You Chew” featuring the entire cast (minus The Excess, Neil Moussaka, and Chubby Cheddar.)

GOODNIGHT - 11:00PM

That ended the Defunctland Official Monday Meeting for July 12th, 2021.  All that was left was to promote “Stumped”, returning to Defunctland Game Night, tonight at 10pm est for Defunctland Guests and above.  Good luck tonight.  I hope you win.

This is greatly appreciated as someone who can rarely make it to these meetings, and I hope you continue to summarize them like this.
