As some of you have no doubt noticed, Patreon is changing the way they handle transaction fees. They used to take them out of the creators monthly payment (which for me has varied between 3-5%), but they're now going to start taking it directly from patron payments instead, starting from the next payment. This means I do get a bigger cut, which is great, but since the cost just gets moved to you instead, it's not that great.

But since there really are no good alternatives to Patreon for adult content creators, I'm just going to have to live with whatever they come up with.

So, unless they back down on this change, there's going to be an added 2.9% + 0.35$ "hidden" fee to the normal cost from now on. This affects everyone, no matter what payment method you use, the transaction fee is the same.

Examples, after adding the new transaction fees:

1$ tier = 1.38$ (+VAT of course. VAT is country dependent, so I can't give you an exact number, and VAT has been added on top of the pledge since the beginning, so nothing's changed there.)

5$ tier = 5.5$

10$ tier = 10.64$

20$ tier = 20.93$

So basically this hits the 1$ tier the most. The other tiers are largely unaffected, when comparing the fee to the initial pledge.

I just wanted to let you all know, so this doesn't come as a surprise to anyone. I'm not going to blame anyone, if they decide to cancel their pledge due to this. But I'd obviously hope, that this doesn't cause a mass exodus of any kind.

I'll be adding the hidden fees to the tier texts, so it's more clear to future patrons as well. And while I'm at it, I'll remove the "Alternate version" line from the 10$ tier for now. I'll add it back in, if I ever end up doing some minor atlerations, that don't warrant a separate upload.

Here's more details about the change: https://blog.patreon.com/updating-patreons-fee-structure/

I do feel Patreon's logic is sound after reading the latest update there, but I'm sure there could be better ways to deal with the processing fees. Something like the steam wallet for example. Where you could choose to deposit a larger amount of money, instead of doing a separate transaction every month for each creator. I mean they already have a system like that in place for the creators, kind of.
