Don't kid your yourself: this is a capable tactical folder to be sure. Brian Lai designed Spyderco Amalgam has a great steel, is fast, a four-way reversible pocket clip, a big blade, and is lightweight. Its quality levels are top shelf too. But the use of a compression lock has created controversy on the Amalgam. Me? I think it's a great knife you should get while you can; it will probably become a collectible in addition to its domination of first cool. It's rare will see a folder like this from Spyderco main line blades!

Man I’ve been having a hard time just really digging any knives lately. Nothing really spoke to me from shot or anything. Maybe I’m just depressed. Maybe I’m burned out. Who knows. This spyderco is pretty cool. Def been carrying my PM2 a lot lately paired with a ultratech. Thanks Nutn.

I went on a compression lock binge, buying just about every Spyderco made that has a compression lock. Picked up the Amalgam at that time and it displaced a lot of my other EDC blades. I love the size you get for the weight and slimness. One of Spyderco's few home runs in the new design realm (so many of their new designs are just weird). Thanks for review.
