Towing works. My dad towed our 2000 lbs boat into the bush with his 4 wheeler to access lake you would want to risk the truck in. Way beyound the recomended limit with the boat and his 3 boys riding in said boat but he took it slow with a few breaks in betwwen to make sure he wasn't cooking the thing but it worked. Maybe look for a small light collapsable? trailer you can fit in the truck bed or somewere on the trailer if you need it. I used a skidoo sled you could mount wheels on to haul wood with my dads 4 wheeler. Maybe thats all you need to haul an extra 100 lbs of gear? Just remember that the trailer should have similar tires to the side by side otherwise you need to carry 2 spares.

You should look into a good quality tire sealant along with a small air compressor! FlatOut tire sealant is a fantastic product. It's made for off road tires and will seal a 1/2 inch puncture.
