Windham's Weaponry A1 Government may not satisfy the never-satisfied purists out there but the rest of us love it.

In multiple outings we found this retro style AR15 very capable...accurate, reliable, lightweight. We gave the still excellent A2 iron sights a workout.  But don't be fooled about its 1960s appearance:  at its heart the WW A1 is a modern AR with upgraded internals and barrel.  We loved how it uses advancements in technology without disturbing the formula.

This original Eugene Stoner A1 look, possessing a 2nd Cool level that AR collectors love (many Vietnam vets too), is the real siren song.  It's fun to go back to the original M16 formula and master it.  You'll learn it's just as functional now as it was in the 1960s and you may even ask why we've made simple hard in the modern era.

They used to make a front sight that was a little bit thinner than the standard front post for national match competition. I bought a bunch back in the day but I can't find them anymore. They are really nice and not too thin that you worry about it. Compass lake engineering used to make them. I use the a1 post or my older skinny posts I bought like ten years ago.

I live 10 minutes from Windham Weaponry. May have to cruise down and take a look if their not sold out 😮 This model looks identical to the one I carried for 4-years as a security specialist in usaf humping the flight line every night for years. Nostalgic ❤️ Oh by the way, we carried 120 rounds on our lbe belt stateside. Talk about a bruised pelvis. 😂 Overseas you would carry double that amount of rounds.
