Gerber Flatiron Cleaver: Fad or Fabulous (Patreon)

Let's take a look at something new to the show:  a folding cleaver.  Arriving in the form of the Gerber Flatiron, it is a cool knife.  It looks technical and will make a decent food preparation blade.  We consider the its popularity as an EDC blade too and mention some others in the same vein, there's some cool ones (see below).  

The finishing on this Gerber knife is fantastic and it has some surprising upgrades like an over travel stop and wadeability with ties.  Not shown in the video but very cool is the new BHQ version coming out in D2 steel with gray Micarta scales.  For its low price it might be worth a foray into something completely new and different for your EDC load out.  

And before we end we will also consider the enormous scale of the German WW II Panzer VIII super heavy "Maus" tank.

I have a friend who has and loves this knife. I'll have to ask her all the things she uses it for. I love cleavers and want one; don't care if it's super useful or not! I could say the same thing about lots of people I know; not very useful, but still fun to have around.

Fun facts: The Germans produced only 2 functioning Maus tanks. It was so heavy, it couldn't drive across any existing bridges. They designed it to ford rivers with a snorkel and supplied electricity from another tank.
