I'll talk about how the venerable and still in-production Marlin 336 lever action is one of the most popular guns in America. In fact, it's pure Americana, embodying the can-do self reliant spirit that made this country great. It's reliable, durable, fun to shoot, and puts meat on the table as it has since 1948. The Marlin 336 emerged from a series of lever action such as the 1985 and eventually shooters determined the .30-30 was their favorite caliber. This continues even today.

Two examples are brought to the table for consideration. A gorgeous walnut-stocked 1962 Marlin 336C and a modern production 336C large loop lever in brown laminated wood. We will consider ergos, smoothness, hitting power, accuracy, sights, shooting dynamics, value, application, and of course 2nd Cool.

The gun has had its ups and downs in quality with Marlin corporate changes but thankfully it's survived. Here's to getting the 336 back on track to regain its former glory...represented by the 1962 version! Still a great gun and highly recommended.
