Changelog

FG Build Alpha 02

  • Updated for game patch v1.1.0.

FG Build Alpha 01

  • Support for DLSS Frame Generation.

INSTALLATION

  1. Extract everything to the game's root folder.
  2. Turn ON HAGS if it's not already on.
  3. Turn on DLSS in-game, it's needed for FG to obtain motion vectors and depth.
  4. You can press END in the game to open the menu, there's a DLSS Frame Generation option, tick it after you have loaded into your save, or you can use the Numpad * hotkey to toggle it.
  5. It's not very stable so it might crash randomly, I suspect it has something to do with VRAM usage, so better to leave some more VRAM headroom for FG to use, turn down the settings that uses a lot of VRAM in the settings.

Hardware Unboxed in shambles. 7900 XTX owners looking for the nearest bridge. My 4070 Ti lives to see another day. 4k 60 fps with JUST 12GB VRAM. Everyone called me a loser. Especially after I bought this card. At the Best Buy checkout line, the cashier even suggested I choose a different one because she "heard" 12GB wasn't enough.. I knew my love for Nvidia would be vindicated someday. PureDark thank you for your efforts. After all these years I finally know what I was supposed to feel when my wife was giving birth. This must be what happiness feels like.

The truth is that 12Gbs of VRAM is going to be enough to match or exceed console textures until a year or two into the next gen console's life cycle. We should be good with ultra/high for the next 4-5 years. Any game now that doesn't have good textures on 12Gbs of VRAM is just unoptimized garbage. Also worth keeping in mind that games take more VRAM on AMD GPUs than on Nvidia GPUs. I have seen it from 300Mbs to 1.5Gbs more.

Just tried out this mod. I now get an additional 40+ fps using a laptop RTX 4080. The game is now very smooth and enjoyable. Thanks PureDark!

Final Fantasy 16 drops to 900p at its lowest resolution, so whoever thinks PS5 texture resolution is going to look stunning at such a low canvas upscaled with FSR1 (hell, even FSR2 tbh) is completely delusional. In other words; yes, 12GB VRAM = you are good.

no you're really not unless you enjoy low resolutions and vram issues. You never want to use all your memory and games are going to quickly require more than 12 to run well even with upscaling. Also the consoles load texture data faster and move it around less plus they have direct access to hardware and pc doesnt for security reasons. The consoles could technically load and unload textures right outside of camera view and pc isnt good at that yet, especially without rebar. Upscaling is fantastic but vram is about more than textures and resolution..oh and texture resolution is independent from render resolution so if you use 4k textures but play at 1440p you're wasting vram and bandwidth. Based on steam hardware survey nearly 92% of pc gamers have under powered systems... so devs are being held back when cards like a 4070 or 4060 are top sellers but its worse than that since most are buying last gen. Games dont take more vram on amd hardware lol... start watching moores law is dead

wrong. so so wrong its shot past funny and reached absurd. so what res are you playing at while still needing DLSS to use ultra settings and get a locked 60 min fps without frame gen? Future proofed without knowing where hardware is even headed in 2 years...thats just amazing.

yes, its fantastic ty. i lock it off at 4k120 with dlss upscaling 3200x1800 which looks native as is but i find dlss has better fine detail quality than dlaa unless its downsampled from like 125% then output at 4k with dlaa
