A new steam interface is coming, and luckily it is editable since it uses .css language and from what I was messing with I was able to modify it and better results can be achieved at least for now than the old interface. It's a matter of seeing how it turns out. For now the skinning is still alive, and this opens the universe to be able to add animations and more types of layouts.
