Hello amazing patrons! I'm hesitant to even post this, but I feel the need to say something regarding it.

As you know, my Patreon is per post, meaning you sign up for free. I intend to keep it that way. It motivates me to write more and it allows you all to set your max budgets, and I think it's the perfect balance. I am so grateful for all of you - for your support, your encouragement, your ideas, and the fact that you believe my writing is worth paying for.

Unfortunately, a few bad apples are trying to pull a fast one. I get an email for every signup, and I've started noticing a few names that pop up over and over and over. Bit weird, I thought. A couple of these people have signed up for my Patreon over a dozen times, and it's barely been a year since I started it.

Then I went into the Relationship Manager and noticed...several of them haven't paid me a dime. Whenever I announce I'm going to post a new story, they cancel immediately and then sneak back a few weeks later. I've attached screenshots of one, who has signed up eight times and paid $0.

It was even more surprising last week when someone said the quiet part out loud, messaging me directly to ask for a $3 refund because they "meant to cancel before you posted again."

I want to be clear I know financial situations change and I don't take cancellations personally. Shit happens, I totally get it! But I don't think that's what's happening here. If you come back again and again and again but have somehow managed to avoid being charged even once, I feel confident that you are not operating in good faith. And it feels extra strange since I still post on Tumblr regularly and have an extensive back catalog available for free.

So what I am saying is: please don't do this. I will notice, and I will block you. You are basically shoplifting. It's disrespectful not only to me but to my generous patrons who are willing to pay for my work. I want to make this an awesome place for people who love this kind of content, offering premium work in a way I wasn't able to on Tumblr, and you are interfering in that. Please stop.

Thanks everyone. I truly appreciate all of you.

that's disheartening this is a common problem, most people don't know how much work it takes to write something like this

Had the same type of people doing this on my Patreon which forced me to turn on payment upon pledging but understand why you aren’t doing that. I hope this callout prevents them from repeating such behaviours.

What a bastard! And how is Patreon allowing this?
