Hi All,

You're probably all aware of this by now but the hiatus ended a little while back, hopefully you enjoyed that Breath of the Wild review. It took a long time to come together but I have several other videos in the works as well. Assuming my plans come to fruition, there'll be less videos than last year but more minutes. In other words a longer average runtime. I can't say whether or not you'll like which games I choose to talk about but I'd like to share some more info so you can manage your expectations appropriately.

Keeping upcoming videos as a surprise keeps me motivated so I won't say what I'm working on but I will say what I'm not working on.

There is no MGS5, Dark Souls 3 or Bloodborne video. There are some thoughts about Bloodborne in The Lost Soul Arts of Demon's Souls and Mega Microvideos if you haven't watched those.

Sekiro looks promising but there will almost certainly be a DLC expansion so that's off the table too, at least for now.

I have some notes scribbled about The Last Guardian and Exapunks but both are low priority and may never happen.

DMC5 is tempting but a DLC is possible. I'd also really need to replay 3/4, spend more time with 5 and maybe even play DmC before I got around to it so it's not the most appealing use of time right now. I'm not ruling it out but please don't get your hopes up.

Of the most requested games, Mario Odyssey is the only one I'm really working on and even then it's in the very early stages. If we're lucky that'll be out by the end of the year but if I can't write something I'm happy with then I won't release it.

Hopefully you're not too disappointed by this news but either way I'd like to be clear about one thing: Ideally I'd like to do all of the above. If you're a patron here I assume you're relatively familiar with how I operate but I'm sure even some of my most diehard followers would love for me to cover a bunch of popular and contemporary games you're more likely to have played and care about. I don't delight in letting you down, I just want to make sure that every video has something worthwhile to say. I want you to know when you click one of my videos you'll get something quality that gives you something to think about.

Honestly I sometimes feel I have as much control over what gets made as you do. There have been games I've wanted to discuss that I wasn't able to and I'd really love to have another comparison video this year but nothing has worked out on that front so far.

Like I said, I don't know how much you'll enjoy what I have in the pipeline for this year. It's definitely less niche than last year but then again it'd be hard to top five consecutive Zachtronics reviews on the niche scale. If you're concerned about all this then I have no hard feelings about any pulled pledges.

Anyway, apologies if this bored you but it seemed only fair I keep you all reasonably informed. I'll be back in a couple weeks with a short review and then I hope to do something a little longer. See you then.

You work has inspired me so much and convinced many of my friends to treat videogames as a serious media of art. Thank you for your videos!

Always enjoy your longer videos, they’re actually the ones I tend to rewatch more, so I’m excited for this year

As much as I'd like a MGSV video i always enjoy your videos, big or small games. Much love.

Btw. if you want a leisure game to play in between your work that you might not know about, I recommend Shadow of Memories for PS2. It's a fun, story focused adventure game (so it probably won't be good material for review) with a gimmick made by Konami. To not spoil too much but still give a hook, you're trying to stop being murdered by traveling back in time. I generaly really dislike time travel but surprisingly I don't mind in this game. The only other story that gets free pass from me with time travel is Chrono Trigger. Give it a spin if you have time. Oh, and there are multiple endings and I recommend you try to unlock all of them. Keep up great work you're doing and have fun!

Well, I hope that whatever videos you put out in the future will be covering something that you enjoy speaking about.

I'd love to see one of your videos about Nier Automata. The game seems to be popular in game discussions as many people use it as reference for certain aspects of game design, but I can not tell you how many times people have seen the poster I have of the game or my phone lock screen and have never even heard of it. Those same people play games all the time, and they don't even know it exists. I don't think Nier is the best game ever made but it is certainly deserving of a bigger audience.
