Moving (Patreon)
Content
The point of the move is pretty straightforward. I've been living in Dublin all these years where rents are high but now that I work from home I can move somewhere further out and get a better place. I've been trying to make this happen for ages now, it's caused some headaches but I finally got one. The new house is actually both more spacious and cheaper than my current apartment so it's quite a bump up and a better use of your pledges. The only downside I'm aware of is that the internet isn't very good. I'm hopeful that fibre will be available sooner rather than later but even in a worst case scenario where I'm stuck with poor internet, the tradeoffs still seem worth it. I can always go somewhere else to upload my videos or even just post them to a friend on USB. What this means for you is unfortunately no streams for the foreseeable future.
With more space I'll be setting up the home office/game room I've desperately wanted for years now. What affect this will have on the channel remains to be seen. I'm thinking of it as a long overdue quality of life improvement first and foremost.
It's already been too long since my last video. I've toyed with the idea of pausing the patreon but I anticipate that many of you will want to continue your support through the moving process. Any time I post news, good or bad, the positivity here is always overwhelming, I'm very grateful for that. Still, I start to feel uncomfortable with the patreon when it gets to be a long time since the last video. If we reach the end of October with nothing new I'll be pausing the patreon until the next one goes up. You won't have to do anything on your end, I'll explain how it works. At the moment I have it set to monthly so if I want to pause it all I have to do is set it to per video until the next video comes out. Then, instead of using the per video option, I just revert it to monthly. I did this in the past when working on the Dark Souls Commentary and it worked out great, you can keep your pledge active and it'll come back online when I reactivate as monthly
I think that about wraps up the news but I'd like to extend a big thanks to all of you, including those of you who aren't pledges anymore. The stability the patreon provides is the reason I feel comfortable moving out of Dublin so if you've ever pledged at all you've played a part in my being able to make this move. Honestly, right now, I'm just dreading the pain of moving but I know once I'm settled out there I'll be delighted to have made the change. Thanks for making it happen.
