Our Na Heedo is so alike an anime character. I love it! Kim Tae-ri is such a stellar actress and this drama is a great gateway to her work.

Twenty Five Twenty One is a special one for me. Kim Taeri as Heedo is so iconic here. The fact that I first saw her in The Handmaiden where the themes are so dark and twisted to here where as a 30 year old woman, she gives such authentic adolescent energy; you can see the dreams and aspirations sparkle in her eyes. Such a powerhouse. Looking forward to see you guys react to this one since it's a bit of a slow-burn and character development is a super prominent here which I guess is essential for a coming of age story.

I hope you guys enjoy this one more than I did. I only watched it for the male lead Nam Joo Hyuk. I love his other work. The plot was good but it really comes down to the cast. Some actors I prefer to watch over others, so I'm sure this was the case.

Irieezy.

Na Hee Do is definitely anime coded haha she's so full of life! The cinematography in this drama is A1 and I love the OST too. Sports anime vibes for sure lol

"IMF" is what South Koreans call the 1997 Asian financial crisis. The country basically went bankrupt and there was a landslide of banks, financial firms, companies, etc. crashing and burning. People got fired, it was near impossible to find jobs, families went bankrupt, families were separated from families from the bankruptcy bc they no longer had a home to live in together, and people were going to jail bc they went bankrupt and couldn't pay off debt (or they ran off and went under the radar to avoid people they owed money to). it was a shit show back then, basically. the gold collecting campaign mentioned in the episode was one of many things that south koreans did to build the country back up.

I really do love this show. I love that there isn’t a true proper villain or bad person. It’s a really good show.
