Here is the movie for December! This definitely left us scratching out heads on the ambiguity of this film, how did everyone else feel?

Cheol-Woo Park

Wow, I am glad you actually enjoyed the film. I wrote the comment above during the first 20 minutes - especially when you didn't understand him trying to catch a glimpse at the only sunlight of the day that can be seen in her room facing the north (as she described at 15:20) and, of course, when his masturbation weirded you out. I was sure you wouldn't enjoy the rest of the film but stand corrected. To me, this film was really fascinating, with its gaze upon the pain of youth, comment on social problems & class struggle, subtle yet distinct depiction of inferior complex, and its almost playful ambiguity. Did the well accident really happen, and did the well exist? We are not sure. Did Jong-Su burn down a greenhouse as a kid, or was he projecting Ben's "euphoria" upon his younger self? Did Ben kill Hye-Mi? It is obvious and yet also circumstantial. Could all this be seen as Jong-Su's warped POV and state of mind where he envies Ben to the point of wanting to kill him, and tries to justify it by imagining himself taking revenge for Hye-Mi? Oh well. Didn't expect to revisit this film at the end of 2023, and I have to thank you. And wish you Happy New Year.
