Guys guys guys.. I have waited a year before troubling you guys with this question again. BUT Bad Buddy when??? 😭😭😭😭

Cheol-Woo Park

Sure, there're people that didn't like the show, but it's a fact that it was one of the top 10 most watched shows worldwide during the COVID lockdown in early 2020 - let alone a HUGE hit in Asia when it first aired. I think some people don't like it for a few unrealistic aspects of the show (which is fair), and the episodes tend to run a bit too long. It can get tiring when you're binge watching.

Butterflies

yayy i’m glad you two like it 😁

One of these days, but still unsure when. There are other shows that are on the list that we still need to watch and even some new ones that come in take priority cause we want to capitalize on it.

Lol, this show is interesting and exciting for newer kdrama fans, but for older ones it was just too cliché. All kdrama clichés wrapped up into one show. It’s literally the stereotype of what a Kdrama is, so for people who have been watching kdramas for ages, it’s actually boring lol. The writer only had 2 things; star-crossed lovers and kdrama tropes. Nothing else Imagine seeing all these kdrama tropes for years, and then finding them all mashed up in one drama. The number of times I rolled my eyes watching it. Maybe, I’m an anti romantic, but it was too cheesy for me I was so hyped to watch it when it first came out, cause everyone (including non-kdrama watchers) was talking about it, but I just couldn’t get into it. I guess I expected something like “King 2 Hearts”, a 2012 masterpiece that explored the North-South Korean relationship in a more realistic way yet it was more fictional. That drama hit me like a tsunami with its political-romance plot and left me all bruised, sore and yearning for vengeance. In 2019, the drama ‘When The Camellia Blooms’, was CLOY’s rival in viewership ratings in Korea and I found it much more interesting lol. People (me included) were surprised when neither Hyun Bin(Captain Ri) nor Park Seo Joon (Sae Royi) won best actor at the 2020 Baeksang (Korean Oscars). (These 2 were the buzz at the time, and were both nominees) Instead it was Kang Ha Neul (he played the Village fool in “When The Camellia Blooms”) who took home the award. Talk about a plot twist. While CLOY only won the popularity award, Camellia took home the Grand Prize for best drama, (the Daesang) at the 56th Baeksang awards. Not that awards mean anything, but this is what picked my interest and made me watch Camellia. I loved it so much, I forced my whole family to watch it. and it was so much better, but never got any hype outside of Korea. People call CLOY overhyped not because they think it was a bad drama, but because it is nothing out of the ordinary. I mean you can’t watch King 2 Hearts and then sit through CLOY Also, the main couple were definitely dating before the show, it’s not their first work together Anyway, I get why you guys like it and I’m loving your reaction and I hope you guys like Seung Joon (real name Kim Jung Hyun, Seo Ye Ji’s Ex) and check out Mr. Queen. He is such a great actor and he is the main actor in two of the best Korean comedies(Mr. Queen and Welcome to Waikiki)

I hate the trope that the main characters must have encountered each other before

2023-01-01 07:01:49 i think the reason why some ppl don’t like this drama is because it does have quite a few cliches. which in my opinion isn’t a bad thing because kdramas are usually full of them in general so u get kinda used to them. also perhaps the whole north/south thing may also be an issue? idk i feel like a lot of times if a show/film is really popular there will be some people that’ll say it’s overrated whether it’s good or bad. also there are ppl that just don’t care for romance in general. BUT this show is #3 on the top 10 highest rating cable tv. it was and still is a very popular and a very beloved series. the main actors are also both really loved actors as well individually & together. i think just a minority of ppl dislike it. it’s personally one of my favs in terms of the romance. i’m a sucker for the world against them types of romances so it’s right up my alley. excited to see y’all react to the rest of the series ps. this is kinda random but i would love for u guys to react to some of the games/interviews the leads did on the youtube channel the swoon they play 🍻 pong without beer here: https://youtu.be/L9QSXTjOifg couch talk: https://youtu.be/x4l1Dcieyjc some behind the scenes links (check them out after u finish the series in case of spoilers) https://youtu.be/UsdJUv60VsQ https://youtu.be/e3Mwc7nD52s https://youtu.be/T4JSM4OP504

Irieezy.

I agree! The coincidences made me roll my eyes so many times lol. I really loved the second couple tho. And I wholeheartedly agree that they should watch Mr. Queen next. That's my favorite kdrama of the past 5 years man. Still haven't seen anything that can top it. Literally had everything (comedy, romance, action) all in one. Kim Jung Hyun is a phenomenal actor and his leading lady acted her ass off

I'm really looking forward to watching you guys react to a Thai show again cause you guys always have the best reactions and also so excited for Alice in Borderland 2 reaction (gonna be a good one).

yes, Mr. Queen was so good and original. Only Shin Hye Sun could have pulled off such a role. She was amazing!

CLOY is what got me into kdramas and got me through covid lol. Idc how cliche people say it is, I love the romance of the main leads and the story is good! Glad you guys are enjoying it!
