Korea has a different age system. Basically they add two years to the international age. So when she says turned 20, she turned 18. It's not a few years forward, it's just a few months from when she was 17 (19 in Korean age) aka senior in HS. Being an adult and everything becoming legal like clubs, drinking etc is 18 international (20 korean age)

Yes. We used to count our age following to the year you born in, starting with one year.😂 Also, we assume 20 as an adult legally. So you can be treated as a legal adult as soon as it becomes a new year. Everyone born in 2003 is 20 years old in 2022 identically and they became adults officially on 1st January in 2022. Maybe this is why we have a culture obsessed with making orders according to the age. There are lot’s of age-related lines but Netflix doesn’t translate. Most of the characters in close relationships call others not by their names (which is considered rude) but by 오빠(a man older than a woman), 형(a man older than a man), 언니(a woman older than a woman), 누나(a woman older than a man) etc. We usually think “same grade=same age=friends / upper grade=older age=언니/오빠/형/누나”
