Chapter 8: Forming the Team.

Naruto was just done talking to the seemingly weakened Wizard King who was now a small child; Naruto still had his suspicions about him, but he just played it cool when he met up with Julius.

He managed to convince the time magician to let him form his own elite group who would protect the Clover Kingdom from both external and internal threats; it would be something like Anbu from his life as a ninja.

Now all the blonde had to do was find some capable mages and train them up to his standards; he would need some heavy hitters, some healers, and some support mages.

He knew where to get the heavy hitters, but healers he had no idea, so he figured he had to go see Mereoleona anyway to see if she was interested in joining; she might know where to find a healer or two, but first he had to find some gifts for his baby girls, as he made a promise to get them some presents when he came to see them again.

As Naruto was buying some toys, his mind went back to a memory he had with one of his old friends whom he thought of as a little sister; she could be classified as a heavy hitter and a healer.

He smiled, knowing she would be surprised to see him since it had been so long; after all, she had told him she was moving to a small village in the Forsaken Realm, and that was the last time he had heard from her.

Hage Village...

The blonde looked around the village and asked some of the people if they knew his friend after he told them her name and description. They pointed out a church that was an orphanage, which didn't surprise the blonde because he knew his friend had become a nun.

On his way to the church, the blonde started to remember how he met Lily Aquaria, a former noblewoman who cared deeply about the discrimination that the common people faced at the hands of the nobility to the point she gave up her status and became a nun.

Flashback...

A young woman with black hair stood protectively in front of a young couple, a skinny young man and a beautiful red haired woman, they were being harassed by two noblemen attempting to take the woman for themselves. Her boyfriend intervened and was attacked by their magical powers.

Lily saw this and quickly came to the couple's defense; however, the two men attacked her. She was able to hold her own, but she was slowly being overwhelmed. Lily looked around to see if anyone would help her, but all she saw were the nobles looking at her with disgust for trying to protect peasants - the commoners' faces had a look of guilt on them, turned away from her as they were afraid to get involved.

Lily had a look of despair on her face; it seemed as if things were hopeless. This world had no hope - the nobility would always look down on the peasants, making their lives miserable, and the peasants were powerless to do anything about it.

"Hey, what do you think you're doing?" A voice cut through the despair the female noble was feeling.

Lily looked up to find a young man with blonde hair, wearing the uniform of the Crimson Lions Guild, which made him a magical knight.

"We are just putting some commoners in their place," one of the noblemen replied, causing the blonde to raise an eyebrow.

"And what place is that?" Naruto asked with an even tone and his eyes narrowing.

"Their place is at our feet; we are nobility and they dare to defy us, so they must be punished," the other nobleman stated as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Naruto looked past the two idiotic nobles and saw a beautiful dark-haired, blue-eyed young woman standing in front of a man and a woman, protected by her water magic. He could see the woman had a pleading look in her eyes, as if she were begging for help. The blonde smiled gently at her before turning his attention back to the two aggressors.

Naruto said, "I think you two had your fun already." He added, "It's time for you to go."

"What? Who are you to tell us what to do?" the nobleman shouted.

"Yeah, we are nobility; no one can tell us what to do," the second nobleman said.

"I am Naruto Uzumaki, a member of the Crimson Lions." the blonde declared hopefully that with that they would back down but it seems they were stupider than he thought.

"You are that commoner that was allowed into the Magic Knights Squad," the Noble said as he recognized the name. "I was there when you got selected for the Crimson Lion instead of me." The Noble said in rage, preparing a spell to attack with his friend doing the same.

Suddenly, the two started to sway on their feet as their eyes grew heavy and they fell to the ground in a deep sleep, snoring loudly, making the other nobles around them mock them as disgraces to their stations.

Naruto was happy that the two nobles were so weak-minded because it allowed his weakest spell to put them to sleep; Naruto walked over to the people he had just rescued and watched as the woman with a three-leaf Grimoire healed the injured young man.

not long after the couple had departed but not before thanking their saviors, making the woman blush and Naruto grinning at them, with Naruto alone with the young woman, he turned to introduce himself to her, but she beat him to it.

"Thank you so much for saving us," the dark-haired woman said while bowing her head. "My name is Lily Aquaria, and I will pay you back for what you did today."

"It was nothing," Naruto replied. "My name is Naruto Uzumaki, by the way."

Naruto watched the humble noblewoman and he had to say she surprised him with her words and her actions; she was kind and brave, standing up for the sake of the commoners.

Flashback End...

From that day on, the blonde became good friends with the dark-haired woman, and they grew close, even after she had left her noble status behind and become a nun, determined to help as many commoners as possible.

The blonde saw a church with children playing in front; they must have seen him because they ran inside and out came an old man priest and a woman in a nun's outfit.

"It's been a long time since I last saw you, Lily," said Naruto. "It's good to see you again."

Lily took a while to move as she did believe her usually busy friend had come to see her but when she got back her senses she ran up and gave him a hug which he returned.

Naruto said "I was on a top-secret mission in another country for the past few years." He apologized and added "I'm sorry for making you worry."

"So you were on a mission; I guess it couldn't be helped, but please give me a warning the next time you have to disappear. I honestly thought you were dead." Lily said in a sad voice, making Naruto feel guilty.

"Hello, young man. My name is Orsi Orfai. I apologize for interrupting, but I was wondering who you are and how you know Sister Lily?" the old priest asked.

"My name is Naruto Uzumaki, the vice captain of the Crimson Lion," he said. "Lily and I are friends."

The blonde looked around as the children he had seen earlier came back out with some more children following, and they were all staring at him in awe.

"Is it true? Are you really the vice-captain of a magical squad, and you're friends with Sister Lily?" One of the young orphans asked.

"Yes to both questions, I guess you heard my name; what are all of your names?" Naruto answered the orphan's question and asked one of his own.

"My name is Nash, this is Recca, and that's Aruru," the boy said while pointing at each girl. "And that's Hollo," he added, pointing at the only other boy.

"Okay, that's enough kids. I'm sure that the vice-captain of the Crimson Lion has come here to talk with Sister Lily about something important," the old priest stated. "Let's go inside and give them some privacy."

Naruto recalled the toys he had bought for his twin daughters, then he remembered how difficult life was for him as an orphan during his first life. After thinking about it, he decided to give the toys to the orphans; he could always buy more once he left the village.

"Catch!" Naruto said as he threw the bag of toys he bought for his kids but decided to give it to the orphans.

Orsi caught the bag and opened it to find the toy inside; he looked at the blonde curiously. "You can give the toys to the children," Naruto said.

The old priest was surprised for a moment before the orphans jumped on him and took the bag, running away with it. The old priest chased after them comically.

Naruto watched it all with an amused expression, while his sister Lily was embarrassed by their behavior and made the blonde laugh at her expense.

"Is there somewhere we can talk in private?" the blonde vice captain asked.

Sister Lily nodded and led the blonde to her room, which was plain with just a bed, table, closet, and bathroom.

"So this is your room, have you brought me here to have your wicked way with me?" Naruto joked, making Lily blush.

"No, you idiot! You said you wanted to talk in private, and this is the only place I could think of." The nun explained.

"I am sorry, but I cannot accept your refusal; you can both heal with your magic and use it for offense and defense. You are perfect for the team; I will, of course will train you so there is no need to worry." the blonde stated.

"I can't do it, I am needed here," Sister Lily said, turning her back to the blonde.

Naruto replied "I am sure the priest can take care of things here while you're away." he said "Look, you owe me for saving you and I am calling in that debt now."

"Why are you so determined to make me leave the place that has become my home?"The nun shouted in frustration, on the verge of tears, making the blonde feel bad, but he pressed on.

"Because you have the abilities the team will need, and above all else, because you're my friend and I trust you" the blonde replied.

Silence fell over the room as neither of them said anything or moved. Then Sister Lily spoke. "I don't have a choice, do I?" she asked.

"No, you do not. I will give you a week to say your goodbyes," Naruto said with an emotionless face. The blonde walked to the door before saying, "I will come back in a week."

Naruto left the church feeling like shit because he had to get the nun to join his team; he hurried back to the Vermilion Estate, but not before stopping to buy more toys.
